Re: Convertable Car Seats
Britax boulevard cs 70!
Britax Boulevard CS. I didnt get the "70" one bc Drew is so tiny. By the time he is 70 lbs, he'll be a in a booster. Marathon is pretty much the same thing with out the "wings" around the head and butt. A little less cushion but just as safe.
I got mine on Black Friday sale from AlbeeBaby.com.

we have 2! loveeeee it!
I have a Britax Boulevard (not sure if it's the 70 cs like everyone else?) and a sunshine kids radian (I think xlt model).
I actually like the SK one better now that she's bigger...the britax was nice and cushy when she first went into it but now it seems cramped rear facing. She has more leg room in the radian. Also, when I bought mine the side wings seemed great but in reality they are a pain to lift her over when strapping her in. If you have an SUV it might not matter but I always feel like I'm squishing her little body up just to get her in without hitting her head. I think this will be less annoying when I put her forward but I really want to keep her backwards as long as possible.
Also, think about how much room you have/need. Some models seem to take up more space than others. and weight limits vary a lot between brands/models for each seat.
This! I was originally looking at Britax but couldn't justify the price since we were planning on buying 2. The Graco gets great reviews also. I did scan the web for deals (albeebaby.com) but we ended up getting it at BRU with a coupon!
We still have some time she's 12lbs at her last appt, but our Graco Snugride is a 22lber, so I want to start researching what's out there now before it's "time". I'm a planner by nature and that effing carrier is heavy as hell now which has me thinking about things. I'll probably have to stop actually carrying her IN the carrier soon.
Thanks girls, I appreciate all of your input.
i feel you! J is almost 14 lbs at 2 1/2 months... serious bicep workout in that damn car seat! we have the Britax Boulevard CS also. i'm not sure if it goes to 70 lbs or not. i dont remember that detail. i am however paranoid about how long J will fit in the infant seat! we switched S to the Britax around 10 months i think (in rear facing obvi) and she was a peanut. at this rate he's gonna be squished in the infant seat for a long while until it's safe to switch.
She might fit in it a while...k was around 18 pounds at 6 months but then never hit 22 til around 1 year. I had stopped carrying her around in her seat by around 6 months but still used it as a carseat. We switched to the convertible at 9 months bc that's when she went into her cast but I would have kept her in longer if not for that. She seemed much more comfy in that than she does in the convertible.
Nicole, between carrying that carrier thing and A I should have super defined arms, but I don't lol.
Some days she seems SO uncomfortable in convertible seat, I need to move the straps up which may make a difference since she's grown a lot. I guess I'll start practicing in and out of the convertible seat rather than carry it.
We were given a Britax by my SIL (used) that is in DH's car...I like it but I honestly found the one we bought to be easier to use.
We have this one in our main car: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4133855. It is the Evenflo Triumph. I find it very easy to use and very easy to clean.
And, we needed one for the babysitter so I researched them on consumer reports to find a decently priced one that was still really safe. The Cosco Scenera was rated very high in safety. http://www.overstock.com/Baby/Cosco-Scenera-40RF-Convertible-Car-Seat/6153507/product.html?cid=202290&kid=9553000357392&track=pspla&adtype=pla&kw={keyword}
We have the Britax Boulevard.
Note to everyone about getting convertable seats with the high weight limits. I thought it was a great idea back when A was a baby... You will most likely never reach that weight limit in the convertable seat. We are switching to a booster seat because A has outgrown the HEIGHT requirement. He is 39 pounds (yup, he's a peanut weight wise at 4 years old) and 43 inches tall. Although he's technically under both the height & weight limit for the seat, where the problem lies is that his torso is long.
How to tell when it's time to switch: when your child's shoulders come above the slot where the top harness strap comes out of the seat. The strap should never come up and over their shoulder when it comes out from the back of the seat. KWIM? Once their shoulders get above the harness strap slot then it's time to swtich.
Just purchased the Britax Frontier 85. This sucker goes up to 120 lbs and doesn't matter how tall he is. LOL

We have the britax boulevard Cs 70 also I got mine at the trade in event at BRU last summer ..... We also have a safety first alpha elite seat in my husbands car..... Honestly he looks way more comfy in the britax and has plenty of leg room.
I have a Britax Marathon for K and we love it. I still have her RF until she turns 3 in September, and she's got more than enough room. In both of my parents and A's car we have a Costco Scenera for her as its rated super safe and very reasonably priced. The only reason I have a Britax in my car is she is in my car >1 hour every day.
For S, we were able to get a Britax Marathon 70 free from our insurance company (long story short, my mom's car got stolen and they cut the straps on one of K's scenera's seats and insurance reimburses for that). We'll probably get Sceneras for the extra cars again, but I thought I heard they were no longer making them, so we'll see.
I have a Subaru Legacy, and its a tight squeeze in the backseat with two Convertables, but its do-able.
