Need DH B-day present help

It's DH's birthday on Wednesday. I have no clue what to get him. We've set a $50 limit. The only thing he's told me he wants is a Roku (sp?) box, and that's too expensive for birthday. I feel like I've used up all my good ideas over the past 4 years.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Need DH B-day present help

  • Sorry I have no ideas.

My DH's birthday is today. And he wouldn't give me any ideas. I offered to take him out some place fancy for dinner but instead he just asked me to put the money on his paypal account so he could use it to buy something for his music room.

It is going to be the same ordeal for Christmas. He just wants the money again. I like gifts- seeing the person unwrap them and the surprise etc.

  • What else does he like?  Hobbies?  Does he like tech stuff?

  • I'm taking him out to dinner and drinks with a couple of his friends. So that's taken care of.

In the past, I've gotten him: a bottle of his favorite Irish whiskey, an assortment of his favorite beers, a shipment of food from Ireland, a GPS, and several bottles of cologne. I was going to get him the last Wii game on the list he sent me for Christmas last year, but he just went out and bought it. All were pretty well-received.

    He loves techie stuff.

ETA: He hates all things Apple.

  • It might be a bit more than $50, but I once got my husband a 3 month membership to a beer of the month club. It went over quite well.

  • Haha, well I can't think of any Apple stuff that cheap anyway, so you're in luck!

What Wii games do you have?  I may be able to suggest some others.

Also, why did he buy himself a game before his bday?!?  I hate when they do that!

He was at Best Buy. It probably felt right.

I was just about to suggest this!  We did it for my dad last year, and he's still talking about it.

  • Do you have Wii Play or Carnival Games?  They're fun for gatherings, etc.

  • Hmm, I like the beer of the month suggestion.

    For wii games, we have:

    • Wii Play
    • Wii sports
    • Mario Kart
    • Super Mario Galaxy
    • Super Paper Mario
    • Super Smash Brothers Brawl
    • The Godfather
    • Bully
    • Wii Boogie
    •  Madden 2008
  • I like the beer of the month club suggestions.

For wii games, Boom Blox is really really fun -- moreso for groups though.

  • This is over your limit so maybe you could do it for Christmas, but I would definitely suggest you get Guitar Hero III for the Wii. You can get an extra guitar and battle each other, it's a blast.

As far as birthday, my go-to man gift is a bathrobe/house coat. Men don't realize how nice they are.

  • Oh hold up! You must get Zelda for the Wii. That game is awesome.

Brookles, are you my husband?!  I just posed the question to DH and he said Boom Blox.

  • I just have to say I've had a roku for 3 or 4 years, and I love it!

  • Does he like Belgian beers?  Last year for my DH's birthday, I got him an assortment of the special Belgian beer glasses...it was a huge hit, he still brags about it to his friends.  I can track down the website I bought them from for you if you are interested.

Also, if he's into music, check out the boxed sets that Rhino makes (they have a website).  They do some neat stuff that isn't really accessible on iTunes...a few years ago, I got DH a boxed set of rare, pre-Motown soul music.

Heehee. Your husband sounds awesome. ;-)

  • Wii Ski! And Amazon has it for $20!

Talk to Pescalita about a Roku (spelling is correct; it is 6 in Japanese)
