Recyling Opportunity (to to recyle items)

I?ve been taking a lot of my recycling to a ?new? (kind of new) store on Wealthy St. They take hard-to-recycle items.   GR city has a great program, but this has allowed us to cut back on our trash even more. The biggest thing is soft plastic like bread bags, chip bags, granola bar wrappers, etc.  Also Styrofoam (no more throwing away egg cartons). They also take things like CDs, VHS tapes, pens, crayons, make-up containers, etc.

I wanted to pass this along. I thought it might be especially useful to GR residents once we start paying ?per tip? for trash collection.

They also offer workshop and classes.  And, they are opening up a bulk food dept. They also have cool "green items" for sale.

Just wanted to share my ?local find? with you all.

  • love that store - I even contributed to their kickstarter campaign to bring in bulk food (although I already get mine at Nourish when I remember).
  • I'm glad you posted this.  Granola bar wrappers... like the foil lined ones?

    yep!

  • Tree Huggers is awesome (we have the original one here in Holland) and Angela really knows her stuff if you have questions.  She's even good via email if you aren't sure what all they can take or how to sort things (the plastic sorting isn't ever like I think it should be--1s together then 2-7 labeled, & then the foam & randome hard plastic, as well as random soft plastic).  I like being able to take chip bags, coffee bags, pens, foam, etc. all to one place.  Being able to take clothes & old fabric is great too.
