My 12 year old "mother's helper" was here today, and I got soooooo much done while she played with my kids. This was the first day that the kids were *both* comfortable enough to play without looking for me every other second.
Both bathrooms fully cleaned, all dishes washed and put away, started really tackling clearing out the mudroom. Still managed to make lunch for us all, and then play outside with everyone after lunch until "Gway" (as DS calls her) had to leave and her mom came to pick her up at 2pm.
The kids and I played outside for another hour or so after she left. Then during DS' nap, DD and I made banana bread.
I love "Gway" days! Seriously, having her come and spend time with my kids this summer was probably the best thing I could have decided to do. They're getting to know her prior to us using her as a babysitter in a couple years, she's getting babysitting experience without having to worry about being fully responsible for them, and I'm getting to clean my house without having anyone directly underfoot and undermining my efforts.

Re: I had such a productive day today!
Yay! I love productive days like that. A mother's helper is such a good idea! And your banana bread is making me hungry (although I'm pretty much constantly hungry these days, haha)
