My vacuum doesn't pick up pet hair!!!!

I recently purchased a vacuum ( Dirt Devil Featherlite Ultra $65) about 4 months ago beings we went from hardwood floors to carpet when we moved. We have two cats that have been shreeding alot lately and I noticed the vacuum just rolls the hair into lines or balls. It is extremely noticeable beings the carpet is a light tan color. I literally have to get on my hands and knees and push the hair together to pick it up, which takes forever and is very annoying. We cant afford a $300 vacuum so can anyone recommened something more affordable???

i don't know if it would work for your needs but I love my Hoover Windtunnel Max (blue color). It has great suction and lots of attachments.

I got mine at either Walmart or Target...it was right around $100 and is especially for pet hair. (Has some sort of electrostatic brush) It works great on pet hair, my hair, and every day dirt and dust.

I have a dog with long white hair, which he sheds constantly and in large quantity. I used to have a terrible vaccuum, but my dad could always get it to work by making sure that it was set so the beater brushes were juusst barely hitting the carpet. On that vaccuum that was achieved by holding it at a weird angle, but on a lot of them you can adjust the height. Try that as a stopgap.

Bissel Pet Hair Eraser! I think they are about $150. I have 3 cats and it works wonders. My parents also have one for their 3 dogs.

Ok you might not believe me because it is so cheap but this vacuum cleaner is SO amazing. I got one for my sister for Christmas because she moved into her first apartment and didn't have one and kept borrowing my moms. She texted me a pic of the container to show me how much it picked up and it was amazing. We ended up getting one and I just used it this morning. We have 2 cats and it sucked up that fur like it was nothing. It is also light so I don't get sweaty using it. Seriously it is awesome.
