Random things...

Two random things:

1) Anyone know a great bakery in OKC that does a super chocolatey chocolate cake? I'm throwing a shower for a chocoholic co-worker.

2) I am fed up with shoes. I swear that 9 times out of 10, shoes feel awesome in the store, then I wear them to work and I can't keep them on my feet, or they are excruciating. Maybe I have unusual feet, but it's a huge bummer that I shop for an hour, spend $75 on sandals, and then can't wear them. Anyone else have this gripe? Ugh. Related: Cute pair of size 8.5 bcbg sandals for sale if anyone wants them. :P

  • 1)La Baguette makes a death by chocokate cake. I've had a couple of times and I think it's wonderful. I can't think of the name of it but it has chocolate curls on top.

2)I have that problem before too. I bought a really cute pair of nude heels and they worked great at the store. I even walked around the store in them for about 10 minutes, but I wear them someplace else and they are killing me.

  • I agree, La Baquette does make the best chocolate cake. We've been getting their chocolate cake for birthdays and such lately. My mom got my baby shower cake there too. It was three layers of chocolate cake with a chocolate icing filling. Each layer also had a thin sheet of hard chocolate. It was to die for!  All 30 people at the shower said it was the best cake they have ever had. It was beautiful too!

  • I agree with the pp - LB - the chocolate cake with the curls on top.

As far as shoes...fashion is pain, lady. Fashion.Is.Pain.  My feet have been hurting for over 10 years although I will say I complained to DH this weekend about not being able to find AT LEAST ONE pair of comfortable shoes and went into Clarks.  He was worried I needed to go to the hospital. Wink  With that being said, I would not recommend walking around Northpark in 4 inch Louboutins.  I wanted to die. DIE.

  • Ahh, La Baguette. I should've thought of that. I will be giving them a call!

Allow me to paint a clearer shoe picture for you. I purchased these shoes a few days ago with some of my birthday shopping money:

The shoes are pain-free, but the little strap on the back slips down off my heel the more I walk. So annoying. I'm pulling the strap up after about 10 steps, over and over. I've tried tightening the strap, and it doesn't help. I guess maybe I have narrow heels? I dunno, but it pisses me off, b/c I love the shoes, but I can't really wear them if it means I can't walk across the street without stopping to fix them.

I guess my shoe problems are more related to shoe malfunction vs shoe pain. I've learned how much pain I'm willing to put up with, and tend to avoid shoes that are too high/made of certain materials/etc.

  • 1) Now I want to eat chocolate cake for dinner. Thanks a lot (and not the alot in your signature picture)!

    2) I'm having issues with the shoe pain too. I've started wearing heels once or twice a week to work lately. They feel just fine in the store, walking short distances, or for standing around. However, inevitably the day I wear them is the day my coworker wants to go walk to lunch and I end up getting blisters on the sides of my little toes. I just put moleskin in my work bag- I generally use it to cover hot spots from my hiking boots, but it may work for heels too. I've been wearing my new pairs around the house to break them in, plus I think the skin is finally starting to callus where the shoes usually rub.

  • If La Baguette doesn't work, Amy Cakes (getamycakes.com) has a decadent chocolate fudge flavor that is OMG good.

Sorry about the shoes! I have the same problem a lot. Drives me crazy.

They make these thin rubbery things that you can put on your shoe straps. I found them at Target by the shoe department. I put them on my sandals that have back straps because I have the same problem with them slipping off. HTH!

I forgot about those! I bought those once a few years ago, and they worked pretty well.
