New house! Appliances Question...

We just had our offer accepted on a new house, (6000 sq ft!! Used to be a schoolhouse)

Anyway, We are probably going to leave our old appliances to help sell our old house, so we will need to buy a new Refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. In your experience, where is the best place to buy these? Does anyone give discounts when you buy mulitple appliances? TIA!

Re: New house! Appliances Question...

  • We browsed around at stores like Lowes and Home Depot, wrote down models we liked.  We wound up looking at a local appliance store as well. They wound up being extremely helpful, could order ANYTHIING you wanted, including the ones I had seen at Lowes but they didnt have on display. They gave us a deal since we bought an oven, cooktop, and a fridge.  We saved so much money we wound up buying a washer and dryer from them that was on sale.  We needed the set but were going to hold out on it at first, but we couldnt pass it up.

So def shop around- big box and local and see what you can get

  • Appliances are big purchases. I'm a fan of Consumer Reports. You pay some money for a yearly subscription. Then you can get ratings and reviews on multiple brands.

When I buy I look there, take measurements of my spaces so I know what will fit, and set a budget.

  • We've purchased from Sears, Lowe's, and a local store.  We almost placed an order at Home Depot, but didn't go through with it because of all the extra fees they tried to tack on at the end.  Most stores will price match and do free delivery.
