Las Vegas Recommendations
Hi ladies!
Planning on going to Vegas for our one year wedding anniversary in September. Never been so any advice on hotels, restaurants, things to do, etc. would be awesome :-)!! Really excited!
Thank you!
Re: Las Vegas Recommendations
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

My Travel Blog
We went to Las Vegas in January and I have four entries in my travel blog on the trip:
Las Vegas (Dining)
Las Vegas (Sightseeing and Shows)
Las Vegas (Hotel and Nightlife)
Las Vegas Day Trip: Valley of Fire State Park
Here's my rec list for Vegas:
To do/see:
- Bellagio fountains are a must
- Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
- Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
- Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage
- Lion Habitat inside the casino at the MGM Grand
- Ride the coaster at New York New York
- Walk the strip and take a peek in all the different hotels
- See a Cirque show
- Get a daypass to use the Aquavana facilities at the Canyon Ranch Spa (heaven!)
For hotels, my fave is the Palazzo but I'd also recommend the new ones at the City Centre - Vdara, Aria and definitely the Cosmopolitan. If you want something mid-range, go with the Mirage, Treasure Island, MGM or even Monte Carlo. Also, the Flamingo GO rooms are nice, the pool is fantastic and the location can't be beat.
For food/drinks:
- Sunday Champagne Brunch at Le Village Buffet in the Paris hotel (amazing!) - Mon Ami Gabi (Paris) is great for lunch with an awesome patio - Olives in Bellagio is very good, great patio with lakeview - Tableau in Wynn has delish breakfasts, a fancy schmancy pretty place - Try a Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity 3 (Caesar's Palace), total yum! - .99 cent Margaritas at Casino Royale (between Venetian & Harrah's) - VooDoo Lounge at the top of the Rio is a really awesome lounge/clubBig tip: Wear comfy shoes to walk the strip, you sometimes don't realize how far some places are until you start walking there...
Have a GREAT time!
We went to Vegas for our first time about a year ago. We stayed at the Bellagio, and it was fantastic. Nice & centrally located. If we went again we'd probably check out the Venetian, Encore Wynn, or the Aria (nicer hotels, downside is they aren't centrally located). For a more mid-range hotel, my mom really liked the Flamingo.
I'd also see a Cirque show. I saw my 3rd Cirque show, Zumanity, and I really liked it - appropriate for a romantic trip =] We spent a lot of time just lounging by the pool & walking around.
We ate at CUT in the Palazzo - it was good, but not the best meal I've eaten for the money. The breakfast at Paris Las Vegas's Mon Ami Gabi was good as well. The best steak I've probably ever had was at Prime Steakhouse in the Bellagio (and we're steakhouse aficionados).
I'd also recommend taking the bus down to Fremont Street (old Vegas). We did the zipline there and just walked around. It's a pedestrian only street with a lot of little shops & old casinos.
Have fun!
