TTC business...

1) Just curious... if you are TTC or when you did TTC, will you/did you take your HPT while DH was close by and knew what you were doing or did you take it on your own and then tell DH a little later?

This is our first decent month of TTC and I could technically test right now if I wanted to, but DH is not home and I feel like I should wait for him!  FF says today is my expected AF, so it doesn't mean tomorrow or Saturday couldn't be AF.  I'm going camping this weekend (yes... camping the weekend of AF.  Thank goodness for restrooms with great toilets & showers!), so if I don't see AF by Saturday/Sunday, I am going to be going crazy wondering.

2) Are you drinking alcohol as normally as you always would while TTC?  I'm pretty sure I read along the way to limit drinking while TTC, but maybe that was only if there are fertility issues?

He doesn't know when I'm testing.  Sometimes I'll tell him after it's negative.  Most of the time I won't say anything.  I'm trying to figure out a good way to surprise him if we (hopefully) get a positive!

I rarely drink... so the only time I would have a drink is the day AF comes, haha.  But I've heard a lot of people use 'drink til its pink'.

  • H and I were not TTC when we found out about baby (we're having a surprise baby!). But I can answer question #1!

When I decided to take the HPT H was there and he ran the timer. I felt it was important to have him involved. But that's just how "we are"  - we do everything together (kinda) and he's very 'hands on' and wants to be apart of everything. And I want him to experience everything he possibly can that involves baby.

So, I think having H involved in the HPT depends on your H, you, and your relationship.

  • We're not trying yet, but I've been thinking of what I'd do.  I think I'd take it on my own and surprise him when it's positive.  But we'll see what happens when we try.

  • When I first suspected I was pg, I took the test w/o DH there. I'm sorry, but I just don't have the patience! I had to know! Also, can I suggest something with the HPT...get the ones that say "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant"...seriously they are worth it. I took 3 with just the lines and they were so incredibly annoying...the 2nd line was *SO, SO FAINT* on all 3 that it was super hard to see and drove me absolutely bonkers b/c I was like, what the hell does that mean?!?!? I eventually had to get the ones that actually said pregnant b/c they lines were soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo faint that it was questionable.

Um... YES.  I took a test Friday evening before we left... and I'm calling it my LSP (little skinny positive).  The second line was soooo faint.  (DH was downstairs.  I took it without him knowing, but then called him upstairs to see the ever so faint line).

I've been away all weekend and haven't gotten to take one first thing in the morning, yet.  Before we got TOO excited, I'm taking another test in the  morning.  I've been pretty regular for the past three months (29 day cycles) and today is CD32... and still nothing.  We're excited... but waiting until the AM.  Silly me got the EPT's again, though.  Hopefully it will be more clear with first thing in the morning test.

  • Yes!! Keep us posted!! I waiting for DH to test, but he would have been upset if I didn't. We took on this adventure together, and he wanted to be involved every step of the way. As far as the drinking, I don't drink a lot, so I didn't stop all together until I got my positive.

  • I have taken several early tests, and I was by myself each time.  Hopefully it happens, and when it does I already know how I'm going to tell DH.  He is a huge Boston Red Sox fan, and awhile back I saw some really cute BRS onsies for a great deal...I think I got the set of 3 for $10 including tax and shipping.  I'm going to wrap them up and give them to him when/if it happens.
