Tell me your favorite crockpot recipe

Help!

I've only used my crockpot a couple of times and I'd love to start using a couple times a month to make a meal on Sunday for H and I to have in the fridge for the week. I've looked at recipes online and there are SO many good ones that I don't know where to start.

What is your favorite recipe? This will help me narrow it down for a few good ones to to try at first =)

  • I'm just learning how to use the crock pot myself and actually was going to ask you ladies if anyone had a good pulled pork recipe for the crock pot.

  • I love this soup~

    Crock Pot Chicken Tortilla Soup
    1 can black beans, drained
1 can corn, drained (I use the Steamfresh frozen)
14.5 oz. can of southwest style diced tomatoes
1 packet of enchilada sauce mix or taco seasoning
    1 and 1/2 C water
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz.)
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) cream of chicken soup
    2 C milk
    3 or 4 chicken breasts

In crockpot, mix packet with water and tomato sauce. Add soup and milk and whisk until smooth. Add chicken. Pour drained black beans and corn and diced tomatoes on top. Cook low 6-8 hours. Before serving, shred or dice chicken (it will be very tender) and stir together. Serve with sour cream, lime, avocado, shredded cheese and chips.

  • Our favorite fall back recipe is a whole chicken!  I'll season it with garlic, thyme, oregano, or what every fresh herbs I have around.  I will put the chicken on celery, carrots, and onions so it doesn't touch the bottom.  Then cook on low for 8 hours.  After that meal is done I stick the bones back in the crock pot with water I think maybe 6 cups?  and then through in some spices. (normally cumin and cayenne) Then cook on low for 8 hours and you have chicken stock!!  I either put this in jars and freeze it or use it the next day to make soup!  One of our favorites its like the above tortilla soup.  I use leftover chicken, 1 zucchini, half an onion, can of tomatoes, corn, and garlic (varies depending on what we have in the house).

Another one of my favorites is like below I don't have the recipe on me  right now.

  • I still have not used my crockpot mostly because I just don't know where to start BUT one of my first meals in it will be beef tips in rice. My mom makes it all the time and H loves it. I don't have the exact recipe but it's pretty common and I'm sure you can find 100's of ways to make this.
  • I like to make a pot roast....roast, onion, carrots, potatoes, cup water, and some seasoning (I buy the seasoning packets), and let it simmer for 6 or 8 hours. I also make beef stew the same way, except I buy cut up beef for stewing. I like to make chili as well, but I brown the beef or ground turkey first.....I like to use ground turkey, black beans (canned), celery, onion, garlic, canned diced tomatoes, jalapeno, cumin, tumeric, and a cup of water. I will make it on a sunday, so I simmer it for 4 hours.
  • I make a lot of the same things as PP: whole chicken/chicken broth, pulled pork, taco chicken, chili. I've also made ribs, spaghetti sauce, pork tenderloin. I like simple recipes where I can dump the ingredients and go! Basically anything you can make in an oven you can make in a crockpot. I'm looking forward to trying to make bread in my crockpot!

I defenitely recommend looking on Pinterest, there are a ton of recipes! I found one for chicken curry I'm looking forward to trying.

  • I've made a super simple North Carolina style pulled pork:

But you might want to set the crockpot in the garage. I love the smell of the vinegar cooking, H does not.

  • This is my favorite, hands down:

French dip sandwiches!  The meat comes out so juicy and tender...mmmm. :)

  • Oh my gosh.  Love love love my slow cooker.  It is quite possibly the best invention.  Nothing better than throwing something in it and coming home to a cooked meal!  It's like fast food, but so much better!!!!

I tend to only use it during the fall/winter months because H just wants to BBQ during the summer. I make every kind of soup you can imagine in it.  Including the Zupa soup from Olive Garden which I think is H's favorite.  Also a favorite of ours is an enchilada bake and a lasagna bake.  Both super easy.  The lasagna is basically just your favorite ingredients in lasagna and layer it up in the crock pot (but be sure to break apart the noodles, makes it a lot easier for dishing out) and let that baby sit and simmer for 4 hours or so.  I also add a cup of water after I am done layering and that helps keep it moist.
