Where did you clean your wedding dress?

Hi ladies,

any recommendation where to take my wedding dress to clean and preserve it? I know, David Bridal offers that service, but I didnt buy my dress at DB, so wasn't sure if they actually would provide that service for my dress. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Re: Where did you clean your wedding dress?

  • I bought mine at DB and bought the preservation kit. I don't know if you can buy one from them if you didn't get your dress there. But, I would try a local cleaners. I noticed that my town has a few that do dresses, so I would start there with the local people.
  • I'm fairly certain that you can buy the kit from DB even if you didn't buy your dress there.

But, while H and I were on our honeymoon, my Mom brought it to a dry cleaners near her, and it was the same price as the DB price...so I'd just start asking around at your local dry cleaners.

  • One of the reviews for the DB kit states that she didn't get her dress there- So they'll do it.

I called around to a few local places, but I think the DB kit will be cheaper than anything else- If you use the code "memories" it takes something like $100 off the price.

  • Sorry...but I'm not a fan of DB so I am taking mine to a local dry cleaners.  I just haven't had the time or energy to do it just yet.  Plus I'm trying to decide how to "preserve" it after it's been clean because we are having a reception here in our hometown in a couple of months that my parents are throwing for us.  Everyone keeps asking me to bring the dress (truth be told, they tell me to wear the dress but I just don't want to.  Not because I don't love my dress, but I feel like the day to wear it was our wedding day) and I know once you preserve it you pretty much leave the dress alone.

  • I haven't had mine cleaned or preserved either.  If/when I get around to it, I'll probably just take it back to the place I bought it from.

  • Honestly I haven't done it yet. We have a really GREAT dry cleaner here that does amazing work with wedding dresses. More than likely I will take it there but I really haven't decided what I want to do with it in general.
  • Mine is back over at my seamstress' who is cutting it into a baptismal gown, bonnet and booties.  I have no idea what I will do with the remains once she is done with it.
