4th of July deals of the week?

Has anyone seen any 4th of July ads that appear worthwhile?

I'm hoping to find a good deal on appliances/electronics for the new house, but I haven't seen anything yet...

Re: 4th of July deals of the week?

  • Not yet, but I will tell you that I feel like we looked forever for appliance deals and they are always the same!! I know we looked last 4th of July and nothing spectacular. We started looking again over winter/spring. Figured we would try over memorial day for a good sale and nothing better than 90% of the rest of the time. Even when they act like the sales are different the prices really end up being pretty much the same.

Not that it's much but I did get coupons for Lowes this weekend. $25 off $250 purchase and $10 off $50. Seems like you could use with normal sale promotion (lowes is usually 10% off appliances and an extra 5% off or their special free financing). We got our appliances there.

  • If you get the Foodland flyers in the mail or pick some up in stores, they have a coupon for $3 off 4/6 packs of 24oz Pepsi products and $3 off 2 cubes of Pepsi products.  These are manufacturers coupons so you can use them anywhere.  Giant Eagle and Shop n Save.have Cubes on sale for 2/$10 (it's like 2/$13 with a bonus $3 off making it 2/$10) and the 6 packs on sale 4/$10 (4/$13 with the bonus $3 off when you buy 4 making it 4/$10).  We picked up soda for a few parties this summer/fall and doing a Rootbeer float party for my nephew's birthday so getting 24 cans for $3.50 was a huge deal along with getting 24 bottles of soda for $7 (I keep a stash at work and sell them for $1.50 which is the cafeteria price when the cafeteria is closed and do it as a fundraiser for dept events).  We also matched that with 20% Foodperks for an even better deal.  I hate soda but when we need to buy in bulk, this is an awesome deal.

  • Does Ryan not get a good deal.....I was contemplating starting to buy stuff now for our upcoming build to "get a good deal" but our builder/contractor showed us prices that he can get refridgerators, stove, light fixtures, etc and they are cheaper than any sale I can come up with and stack with other deals so he convinced me to just go through him.  In fact, we bought a fridge for our basement to use now at his contractor price.

  • No, Ryan's package that included a fridge wasn't a good deal (at least according to our sales rep). We got our stove and dishwasher through them, but will buy our own fridge and microwave.

I got those Lowes coupons too, I should look into that. I was worried about financing through them though b/c I didn't want it to eff up our credit. I'm very unsure about what messes with your credit and what doesn't!

You certainly can choose not to finance. They usually offer financing for x amount of months or get an extra 5% off. Im not sure how much it would ding your credit. If your scores are good I can't imagine it would do much damage. Maybe talk with your lender?

At Lowes, you can get 10% off (even sale prices) with a Veteran's discount.  My dad used his discount when my sister was redoing their kitchen and saved a good bit when stacked with sales and other bonuses (like the buy $500, get $50 gift card thing)

  • Have you looked at Dormont Appliance? My mom got her stove and dishwasher there for their remodel because they had the best pricing. They got their fridge at Best Buys because it was a much better deal than either Lowe's or Home Depot. Don't forget they all will price match.

You are definitely better off getting your own appliances,  my mom totally regretted going with the builder's package because the appliance were crap (and theirs was a custom home).

  • Too bad I don't know any vets, that's a nice deal!

I am def planning to check Best Buy too (although I hadn't heard of Dormont Appliance, but I will see if I can arrange a trip out there if their prices are good). I was just sort of considering whether the sales were worthwhile enough to try to squeeze it in this week.

Lowes has 10% appliances listed on their website (which looks like their 4th of July sale).  But that is always their sale price when they have a sale, so nothing special.

Best buy did seem to have decent sales, but the prices ended up being about the same as elsewhere.  Our Best buy had a really limited selection though.  I wasn't sure if you could order through the store or not. You can order online but there were a lot of added fees.

  • Mandy:

I wanted to tell you.... when we redid our kitchen we got all our appliances through Appliance World in Irwin. Part of that was they were tied to Irwin Builders who did our kitchen. We were happy with the prices for the most part but didn't shop around much. It just made it easier when the time came for install. My only complaint was I think we got a little sales job on the dishwasher to get the upgraded model. not impressed with it.  Lesson learned. Not sure if you get their inserts in your mail/newspaper.

    Just passing along. :)

I do get those and was planning to check them out. I've purchased from Rosendahl's in Irwin, but they have a really small selection.

  • We bought all of our appliances at Dormont (about 9 years ago) we went with KitchenAid and have had no issues.  We need to start looking for the new house so I will be checking prices real soon.  Please post if you find any good deals!
