Wow! Things had really slowed
down on the board awhile back and I stopped visiting as much but it looks like
it?s been picking back up again.
How is everyone? It looks
like there are few new little one?s and there have been a few moves? exciting!
Things are good on our end. I
recently signed an agreement with my company to transfer to the Dallas-Fort Worth
area early next year?. So our family is about to take a big adventure! We?ve been
working on the house and will be listing sometime within the next week or two so
wish us luck!
Re: Hi everybody!
Good luck with the house selling! We just closed on our old house on Friday (we are still in it though and renting till end of Aug). It was stressful having it on the market with two little ones, and a roller coaster going through the inspection phase, but it's very exciting when it's all over
I am NOT looking forward to the inspection part at all. I can't think of what might come up but it just has me so anxious. Thankfully my company is covering our loss so we're pricing low.... just hoping that means we get a good offer quickly so that they house doesn't have to stay show-ready for too long!
Congratulations on selling your house! Sounds like it was a bit painful but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end!
Congrats to you too Amanda! Having fun decorating the new place? I'm trying not to get ahead of myself (need this house sold first!) but I'm totally excited to shop for new furniture and decorate a new house!
That helps!
We happened to have the inspector from hell, so it really caught us off guard. Our realtor was livid. We just moved into the house ourselves 5 yrs ago, so we weren't expecting much to come up but he nitpicked everything. He was in our house for 4.5 hrs! Luckily our buyers were smart enough to sort out the real issues for the most part, but it was definitely stressful.
Maintaining a show-ready house was definitely the hardest part. We only showed for 9 days, but we had 22 appointments. We pretty much lived out of our cars.
I am itching to get started. But a broken foot and a couple surprise repairs have slowed us down a bit. I guess some of that comes with buying an older, outdated house. My dad is painting EJ's room tomorrow so it is a start!
4.5 hours?! O.M.G. Glad you made it though.... and I'm hoping we have better luck!
Oh jeez, hope you're foot heals soon. That stinks!
I'm nervous b/c we're going from 1700 sq feet to around 4000, so there will be a lot to do and a LOT of furniture to buy.
Wow that's a big move! Hope everything goes smoothly for you with the house selling!

I can't believe how big your boys are now Emmy! Amazing how quickly time goes by right?
The girls are great. S is getting excited to start preschool in the fall and G is just getting big so fast. I swear it goes by so much faster the second time!
Can't wait to hear how it goes! We have a few pieces with different wood grains that I was wondering if I could somehow paint a distressed black.
I'm planning on doing all of mine white to match our trim/blinds/fireplace. There are a ton of blogs available for how to paint furniture... it's just a matter of picking which one you want to try. I've got one piece that's an antique with lead paint, a few that are veneer and one Amish solid wood , so I'm picking a few techniques to try. I should be an expert by the time we move if all goes as planned. Unless I run out of steam after the first one (which may happen).
(ETA: I was just reading this how-to for doing a distressed finish. Sounds easy, but who knows!)
Do you have many extra rooms in the new house, or are they just larger in size compared to your current house? I know we'll be able to add some small stuff (accent chairs, tables, etc) to fill out the larger versions of the rooms we currently have. The new rooms really worry me though, I dont even want to add up what we'll end up spending. I can see a couple of rooms sitting empty for a little while, ha.
So will your new house be ready for the end of August?
Yes, we have an extra bathroom, bedroom, family room, dinette and playroom!
(And yes, end of Aug. -- hopefully!)
