Hello.

I have been thinking about coloring my hair for several months now. It was always a a pure red but in the last year, the red has faded and now it looks brassy to me. I want to put the red back in but have no idea where to start.

I have long hair that's really healthy. Only one spot on my temple gets split ends and I have not started graying yet.

I was thinking of using a demi permanent color. Is that a good choice?

What shampoo will I need to take care of the color?

Will I need 2 boxes if I have long hair?

Red can be tricky. If you want to use demi permanent it's going to wash out in about three weeks. For long hair you may want to use two bottles. I use to use two when my hair was really long. Use shampoo that says for color treated hair. However, I really suggest going to a salon to have it done because red can turn to orange really quick. You may even want to go with red with some blonde/brown high lights to break up the brassy look and not have to color as often.

Like PP said, using a demi permanent red color will fade really fast. When I used to have red hair, I used permanent color and still colored monthly at least. Red is beautiful, but too high maintenance for my budget.
