stretch marks

does anything actually work?

Re: stretch marks

  • I used oil to try to prevent them but still got a few at around 37 weeks. I used lotion after. They've since faded but im not sure if the lotion had anything to do with that.

  • I used cocoa butter everyday religiously until i noticed them coming in. So i bought the Palmer's Tummy Butter stuff, we'll see if it does anything. Hopefully they'll fade for the most part once everything is said and done.

  • I have been SHOCKED at the results from Strivectin. I had horrible deep, purple, all-over the belly stretchmarks. They are still pink but less deep and I've inly been using it about a month.

Where did you get the Stivectin?

I got mine at TJMaxx--you can also get at Marshalls and the like right now.  They recently changed the formula, so you can get close-out of the original. It's so expensive, I'm not personally willing to pay full price.

But also Sephora, Amazon, all the usual suspects.  http://www.sephora.com/search/search.jsp?keyword=strivectin&_requestid=81784

I'm not certain you can use it while pregnant--I'd wait until after you deliver and check with the doctor.

I've also been using the eye cream and have not been very impressed.

  • Macy's carries strivectin also.  I haven't tried it but have heard great things about it.  Little pricey but it's a quality product!
  • Bio oil. Used it throughout my pregnancy. Never got a single stretch mark. Lubed myself up every morning and night.
  • I used Bio Oil religiously from early pregnancy to postpartum. Zero stretch marks. Not sure if it's the oil alone, maybe genes helped too. GL!
  • Well, lucky for you guys who didn't get stretch marks. I already had some on my legs so I was bound to get them during pregnancy. But holy crap! That stuff is $100. I'm not sure if there's a TJMaxx or anything like that around here. The closest mall is about 45 minutes away Sad Maybe I can find an online one and order it cheaper from there..

  • Liquid form of Vitamin E. I burned the top of my hand horribly in high school, and rubbed in on the burn. Barely a scar! I've been rubbing it on my thigh stretch marks, and they're going away. I have to make sure to get some that doesn't smell like old woman, but either way, it works!

You can find Vitamin E at your grocery store, Walmart, or Target.

  • yep no way I would pay full price! I got it for 40 dollars for a really big tube and the eye cream together

  • I've used cocoa butter and still got them. They're hereditary, and I haven't heard of many things that work for everyone to get rid of them. Strivectin sounds promising though!

  • I think it's primarily genetics and how fast you grow...I used unscented cocoa butter and didn't get any (except on my boobs early in pregnancy when they grew from B to G cups in like 3 months) but my mom had really minimal ones too so I think it was genetic vs anything I did.

  • I highly recommend bio-oil. My sister got a bad case of stretchies and it made a HUGE difference.

  • Hmmm, well I guess it's just a trial and error process from here. The tummy butter SEEMS to be lightening them a little, but I might just be overly hopeful. But I'll definitely try the BioOil and Vitamin E. I'm not even sure if there's a TJMaxx anywhere close to here though, so I'll look online.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys Smile
