4th of July?

Anyone have anything planned?

E has to work that day so we are just going to probably hang around my Sister's house. I want to talk someone into going to the lake but with my Sister just having Cooper and my BIL's g/f just having Noah, I doubt anyone will want to go.  We may look for fireworks that night somewhere around town but no major plans.

Re: 4th of July?

  • No plans as of yet for the actual 4th. Monday night we are going to see fireworks (well taking Katie to the family activities before hand and leaving before the fireworks start).

This week coming up is just packing and getting ready for vacation :)

  • Wednesday is really the worst possible day of the week for the 4th. Not that I have to worry about work, lol, but DH obviously has to work the rest of the week, so I doubt we will do anything major. Heading into Boston for the fireworks is always a possibility, but parking is always a major headache so who knows. Plus DH would probably enjoy one day a week where he doesn't have to make the drive in. So maybe we'll find some fireworks around here. If our stupid kitchen had been done we probably would have had a little picnic or something here, but hosting a party with no sink is not my idea of a good time.

  • We'll be in Maine.  Supposedyl you can see the fireworks from the back yard of the house we rented.  We will probably have a BBQ.

  • Tara- where in Maine are you going?

  • The ILs are grilling out and hanging out at the pool so we're planning to go to that. We may come back to around home to see fireworks since our city does them better than ILs town.

  • It's our anniversary and my husband is home for this one! Yay! We thought about going to Ruth's Chris for dinner but nixed it. So we're now debating between going to base to the 4th festivities there, or stay in our town and go down to the lake where they are doing stuff. Both places will have food, music, and fireworks, so it just depends which one we feel like going to, driving a few minutes or being just down the street.

  • Our town actually celebrates on the 3rd since it's the anniversary of our incorporation.   There's a fireworks display at the park directly down from our culdesac, and we have a closer seat than the people that pay at the park to get a good seat to see them.  They're so close it looks like our roof is going to catch fire!  We always put our fire pit in the driveway and toast marshmallows while we wait.  It looks crazy on our street - like a street fair.  Bounce houses, and all of the neighbors are out with a beer or cocktail in hand :)

We always BBQ and have my family and a couple other friends over.  I think a couple rounds of beer pong are in order as well (martini pong for me!).

Thats only 45 min from where I live. :). DH usually takes me to Bar Harbor for my bday and we had our 10 yr high school reunion there at Leary's Landing (bar a classmate owns).

  • I'll be in London with my mom and sister, so probably sightseeing lol.  My dad and DH have a "man day" planned full of golf (if the weather cooperates), steaks on the grill, and watching movies like Act of Valor lol.  I'm actually pretty pumped they're doing that together...good father/son bonding time :)

  • We'll be at the beach!!  Probably have a BBQ and watch fireworks from the beach.

  • No plans as of yet.  And I completely forgot about the fireworks until I read your post.  Now I'm excited.  :)

  • We are camping the night of the 3rd and 4th with my momma and sister and her new boyfriend. Maybe BIL too. We'll see who all ends up with us.

I'm a little worried about the puppies and fireworks (Maggie is terrified of loud noises) but they will be leashed constantly, and will actually be in our house during the big fireworks. We're only camping like 2 miles north of our house... ha. We have to work on the 5th so close is good, plus if we are rained out it's easy to come home.

  • Because L is so little and it's a week before we move, we have no plans.
  • We spend it in the car driving up to visit my family. I'm dreading the trip since Taylina doesn't seem to enjoy being in the car. Hopefully she does okay and doesn't cry endlessly..

  • We have no plans right now. I was leaving it open because our schedule has been so crazy, but now I really want to do something so I'm trying to throw together a BBQ.
  • Dan has to work. :( His group works on some Canadian funds so half of his team still has to go in. It was either work on the 4th or Thanksgiving. Can Canada celebrate our independence too?

I think that we may go catch fireworks on the 3rd depending on how crowded it is in town.

I'm worried too.... well, not worried, but I feel sorry for them... especially Cricket. She is a 75 lb dog who cowers at the sound of fireworks. I'm going to close off the dog door and keep them inside but it'll be tough on her.

I live two blocks from the beach so J and I are going to walk down to the beach and meet some friends down there for picnic and fireworks. Apparently they put up a stage and have music and everything so we'll see. I haven't actually researched it yet, lol, but going off word of mouth. I just got home from the San Francisco area so just now really starting to think about it.

yeah, we had some thunder the other night and she totally overreacted, which only confirmed my fears. They will both be getting a dose of Benadryl before dark on the 4th. Sigh.

That's a good idea for Cricket. We had fireworks somewhere in the area last night already and Cricket did ok (she was exhausted from the drive back from San Francisco) but still did a little trembling. I'm also going to take them to the dog park the morning of the 4th so they can run off any and all extra energy so it doesn't turn into as much nervous energy.

Yeah we are planning to wear them out on the 4th as well. Luckily Maggie doesn't get destructive, but I just know there will be a day where she accidentally destroys something trying to "burrow." She has tried to get under the couch before and during a major thunder stretch once when I was in the shower, she tried to get behind the toilet. Yes really. I had to jump out of the shower and cower over her in the bathroom, naked and sopping wet, to get her to stop trying. She just likes to be under something... We're making her a fort before we leave for big fireworks tomorrow since the crates are all packed away... lol. In the past we have had her on our bed completely under a heavy quilt or blanket, between David and I, and she will sleep then. It's so sad! Dex doesn't really mind them, and he gets protective over her when she's sick, so I'm hoping he will clue in to her if she's in distress when we're not there and snuggle her.

Seriously, these dogs are so spoiled / make me worry SO MUCH ha. I sound ridiculous.
