What's your secret to removing stains?

Lately Katie has been destroying some of her clothes due to her messy eating. Even though she wears a rather large bib that covers most of her body (literally) she still ends up with food on her. Blueberries by far are the worst stains to get out. I usually just soak in cold water and then spray with Dreft- if it's really bad I'll use shout or Grandma's stain remover.

So...what are your secrets or tips to removing some pretty nasty stains?

  • I use Zout and if I spray it on the stain and let it sit before washing it usual works like magic!!

  • I use grandma's secret spot remover on pretty much everything. I haven't found a better stain remover!
  • I always use Dawn in the kitchen sink. Then again, I also use febreeze on carpet stains. It works, I swear!

  • A baking soda and water paste will work on pretty much any stain. Just mix enough water into the baking soda to make a paste, apply it to the stain, then let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing as usual. This has saved plenty of shirts of mine from splattered tomato sauce.
