Black Tie wedding- what do you think of this dress?

Re: Black Tie wedding- what do you think of this dress?

  • NMS, but it's lovely.  Be sure the event is truly black tie and that they don't actually mean "not chinos, kthanxbai."  This dress is definitely Could Be Worn to the White House for a State Dinner formal, and while being overdressed is always better, it'd still be awkward to walk in somewhere with ladies wearing their average Sunday church dresses.
  • Gorgeous dress, but I wouldn't wear it.

  • Beautiful dress. However, like other pp's I wouldn't wear it to a formal wedding.  It's a little much for a wedding. I think you would be giving others the impression you were trying to out do the bride or blend in with the bridesmaids.  A beautiful dress but again, I would go with something a little more understated and classic. This is a red carpet dress!
  • I'd go for something more understated for someone's wedding, probably. Since this is a common silhouette for bridal gowns, I think I'd just pick something else.

Agreed.  I love the dress, but it's too similar to a bridal dress.

  • I LOVE IT. I would wear it if it is truly after 5 black tie at a formal location. (HOTEL not the beach, etc) as PP stated black tie can be misinterpreted and ya know...

when I got married I wanted ppl to wear floor length. esp since i was in a big dress. Being appropriately dressed is a form of politeness and it honors the occasion.

  • Beautiful! I would wear it, if the invite says black tie, this what everyone else should wear and not their sunday best!!!!

  • LOVING!!!

I would wear it, it is certainly Black Tie approp.

Our wedding was BT and I expected BT not Sunday Best, every wedding is Sunday Best.

    BT is gowns and tuxedos.

Enjoy the wedding, I would go to every BT charity ball I could find just so I could wear that dress more often.

  • Love the dress, if your unsure maybe send a pic to the bride and get her opinion of wether its over the top or just right. You wouldnt want it to be too similar to the bridesmaids dresses either
