4th

What are you all doing for the 4th?

H and I are in danger of having a crappy 4th of July. For starters, it's on a Wednesday, which is kind of a drag in and of itself. We don't have SD for the holiday this year. H was supposed to ride his bike with SD in a little parade, but she told him last night that she changed her mind, she wants BM to ride with her instead. I hate parades. My parents are out-of-state on vacation, so we can't go hang out with them. My brother and SIL are spending it with her family. H's family is all out-of-state. Most of our local friends have plans with their families.

So... we're searching for something fun to do, with no luck. Any suggestions? Maybe we'll just buy a bunch of liquor and light things on fire.

Re: 4th

  • I am pretty ticked off at this fourth of july being on a Wednesday thing.  I have tomorrow off, like everyone else BUT HAVE TO MAKE UP THE TIME ON SATURDAY.  Gee, thanks so much! I would rather work tomorrow and have my Saturday off but when I asked I was told no which is retarded.

We just plan to lay around in our backyard, I guess.  We are having some couches delivered for DH's "man room" so that is the only exciting thing we have going on.

I vote for buying liquor and lighting sh!t on fire.

  • Because it's on a Wednesday, we're probably going to take it easy. DH is going for a bike ride in the morning with some buddies to train for the Hotter N Hell. I am probably going to catch up on laundry and read. So wild and crazy.

Well, it is the end of the Q and when you work in SEC reporting, that's just kind of how it is. What really ticks me off is that I worked a 15 hour day yesterday AND ate lunch at my desk while everyone else got here between 8 and 9 and left at 6. And took a one hour lunch. That's fine and dandy but a large portion of what I do is completely dependent on them getting their work done in a timely fashion which means come Saturday I am going to be playing solitaire while they are rushing around trying to wrap everything up, KWIM? And then next week I am going to be REALLY pushing to get stuff done.

I know none of that makes sense.  But it is irritating.

That really sucks! I work a lot, but not *that* much. Hopefully you can get some quality relaxation time in tomorrow.

  • I have tomorrow off, and I took Thursday and Friday off too - I'm ready for a little break! Tomorrow we'll go to my fam's to swim and eat and generally just goof off. I'm looking forward to that for sure. :)
  • We're going to spend the day in the pool anf cooking out at my mom's house. Then we're going to catch the firework show at Riverwind. I've never seen it, but I've heard they have a good display.

  • My mom's had JJ this week, so we'll meet up tomorrow so he can come back with me for the next couple of weeks [he'll spend more time with my parents when my dad gets home on R&R in two weeks]. I don't think we're meeting until tomorrow evening, which means I have tomorrow during the day to do whatever I want. That'll be weird.

I'll probably sleep in, finish cleaning, meal plan and go grocery shopping. I am not a fan of fireworks, so I'll avoid those at all costs; we also did our family BBQ this past weekend, so no BBQ for me either. The 4th being in the middle of the week sucks, but at least it's a day off.

  • No plans here. Last night DH said he'll probably work tomorrow because what's the point of having 1 day off in the middle of the week? Unless DH comes up with plans, I'm thinking I'll make BBQ for dinner, then we'll sit on the tailgate in the yard and watch Riverwind's fireworks show.

  • I'll be headed to my sisters as soon as I get off work today for some relaxing and cooking out by the pool. I hope we get an early dismissal soon.
  • We got let out a few hours early today. Hooray!

H took Monday off instead of the 4th, so I'm just hanging out with the dogs tomorrow.  We're planning on going to the Philharmonic's Red White and Boom concert tonight, so that covers the fireworks. It starts at 8:30(?) at the State Fairgrounds and is free! I doubt we'll do anything tomorrow evening after H gets home.

  • It sucks the 4th is the middle of the week this year. We don't have much planned. We are going to the ILs to eat and swim. I don't know if we will be making the firework show this year since the one here in Norman doesn't start until 9:45.

Riverwind's show is suppose to start at 9:00. I hope they run on time because it'll be my bedtime soon after!

  • I got to sleep in until 8:30! Somehow, I convinced my baby he needed to go back to sleep after his 6 a.m. feeding. Confused So we snuggled in bed for a couple of hours.

DH has today off, but he did have to go round this morning. I think we're going to spend a couple of hours at a friends' pool this afternoon. No fireworks for us this year...it's just too hard to stay out that late at night with G, and we didn't want to get a sitter on the 4th.

  • We are doing the girlling/lay by the pool thing. Possibly taking the kids to see the fireworks. My dad took the rest of the week off to spend with the boys b/c we were supposed to be in OKC until yesterday, so I'm sure we will spend time with him.

  • Nothing for me. We'll I'm working, but that doesn't really count.
