Name Changing

How many of you are taking your husband's name? Anyone keeping your own last name?

I've been debating back and forth almost every day on what I want to do. Thankfully we still haven't received our marriage certificate yet so I don't feel the pressure yet.

Re: Name Changing

  • I took H's last name and moved my maiden name to my middle. Dropped my old middle. My last name was way more important than my middle name to me.

  • I am making my maiden name my middle name and my H's last name will be my last name :)

I took H's last name and just dropped my maiden name =)

Ditto! That being said, there's no rush even when you do get your marriage license. You can do whatever you want and I think it would be better to be certain it's what you want either way before acting on it. Don't pressure yourself. :)

  • I dropped my maiden name and took my husband's last name. For work stuff right now I'm abbreviating so people know who I am. haha It's still so strange to call myself by my new name and be a Mrs.

  • Megan, I thought you were keeping your name for your research/job things you have published. Am I thinking of someone else or did you change your mind?

Don't mind me, just being nosy. :) Feel free to answer or ignore me.

Nope, not me.  I'm not too concerned with it since it will all be listed on my CV.  That's really the only ties I have to my maiden name and I want to change it.  My maiden name is WAY too common so changing it would actually be a smarter move for me.

  • My husband and I are both taking each others last names, with no hyphen. So it'll be MyLast HisLast.
  • I'm changing mine!

I'm moving my maiden name to my middle name and dropping my current middle (even though I'll miss it!)

I've just spent the last bit changing my name and email address on most of my online accounts (all that I could think of). I'm hoping to go by SSA on Monday since we got our marriage license in the mail! I can't wait for it to be official!!

  • I'm not changing anything. Never wanted to.

  • I got rid of my maiden name. It was Burden and I've been wanting to get rid of that for awhile.  :)

I'll change mine before we start our adoption process or when my passport expires, whichever comes first. I'm not in any rush.
