Has anyone done a Bar Method class? Thoughts? I'm super interested in trying one, but I don't know what to expect. Plus I dont think any studios in my city offers them yet.
Re: The Bar Method
I actually just started doing the videos yesterday and I have been doing Ripped in 30 and 30DS at the same time (am and then pm) for 3 weeks now. Today, I feel a different kind of soreness, different muscle group, from doing the Bar Method. I may do it alone after I finish Jillian's DVDs.
i got super into it the couple months leading up to my wedding and felt a lot stronger (but not bulkier) after I got into the groove of it. It's hard but you get stronger every time you do it. The first couple times I totally wanted to quite because you do a lot of small repetitions that start out feeling really easy but then when you're about ready to stop you have to keep going and I"d be like "are you seroius!?"
So of course I'd have to stop some of the reps the first few classes but I'd have little victories. Like the first day I was able to make it through the whole plank series without taking a break, and it got me totally pumped. So I think it's definitely a physical and mental challenge but I felt great and my body got strong and toned but not in a bulky way. Much more obvious results (for me anyway) compared to regular reformer pilates and things like that. If you have studios near you they usually will let you try a class for free or disocunted, or try to find a video and do it at home. I know for me, the pressure of being in a phsyical class motivates me because I wimp out at home.
