Selling your house - how did you handle inconvenient appt times?
Were there instances where
you turned down showing someone your house? I want to be accommodating and get
as many people in as possible but I just got a call to show our house tonight
at 8pm. The girls usually go to sleep at 8:30 so this will screw up our routine
a bit?. I approved this appointment (that makes 3 today!) but I?m not sure I
can keep up with it. Would you have taken the appointment, or asked that they
reschedule for an earlier time?
Re: Selling your house - how did you handle inconvenient appt times?
When my realtor sends me MLS listings, there are often notes like "please give x hour notice because of dogs" or no showings after x o'clock. So maybe the realtor can update your listing with a note like this so that it won't happen again.
Personally, I would never ask to tour a home so late but that is me. But then again, our realtor had people who insisted she take them out on Christmas Eve and at 8:00am on the 26th. So some people really don't take into consideration others time.
This. Although we did have a 24 hour notice request on the MLS listing because of the dogs/Eleni. I worked at home a lot to accommodate showings. and even rushed home one afternoon to get them out of the house before a second showing. We had a few nights where we were forced into eating dinner out- or ones that messed up bedtime. But we wanted to sell. And were willing to do whatever we could to assist in that happening.
We had a lot of missed nap times in the beginning due to Saturday and Sunday afternoon showings and did have to eat dinner out more than usual. One day I had to go home from work at lunchtime and bring my dog back to the office with me (she was a nervous wreck in my office so it was kind of a pain). We never turned down a showing although I may have considered it if people wanted to come that late at night, especially on a weeknight. Then again, we had a ton of showings in the beginning and now have had only ONE showing in the last 2 months, so at this point even if someone wanted to come at 2AM, I would probably say yes...
ETA: We did ask for the 24 hour notice too although we didn't always get it.

Our realtor wouldn't schedule anything past 7:30-7:45 b/c of the kids.
The only appointment we had to push back on was one that wanted to come during nap time the day of Lanna's dance recital. We just had to get Wes's nap in or he would've been unbearable and there was too much going on, so we pushed it earlier (and they still came late).
