When do you plan to eat your wedding cake?

Our caterer gave us the top tier of our wedding cake after our reception and it's been in the freezer since... I believe, you're supposed to eat it at your 1st anniversary? So, are you waiting til May 2013 to eat your remaining cake or are you gonna eat it earlier? I'm thinking about eating it next month on my husband's birthday... hahaa. You?

We threw ours away. We didn't see the point in keeping it and I know some people say that if you freeze it the right way, it'll taste just as good as the wedding day but we don't have the extra freezer space for that so we tossed it. I felt slightly guilty at first but now I'm over it, it's just cake :)

  • We're going to be eating ours on 5-12-13. I think its a fun tradition to do!

  • I did freeze a slice (the whole top was too big and take up too much space), but I doubt we'll even eat it. I heard it won't taste very good. If we are able to go back to Martha's Vineyard for our anniversary, I will order some cupcakes in the same flavor to enjoy. I'd rather eat fresh cakes than year old frozen cake. My parents had their cake in the freezer for almost 40 years before they had to throw it away when they lost power a few years back. Not sure they ever tasted it.

  • We got a huge topper too...we have been eating it slowly haha..still tastes yum. We are saving a tiny slice to do the tradition of eating it on 5-19-13! We also have a bottle of champ that the place that our hotel on our honeymoon gave that we never used so we want to use it too! :)

  • Since we figured the top tier would taste disgusting after a year, we saved just a slice of it to eat on 5-1-13, simply for tradition. The rest, we ate within a week of the wedding... so good...

We had 2 cake flavors, so we're thinking of eating our top tier at 6 months (so it's not frozen as long), and then ordering a cake in the 2nd flavor for our 1 year anniversary  :)

  • We didn't save any cake- We figured if we want cake on our anniversary, we'll just buy some fresh cake ;)

We did have 4 bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne left over- We're saving the champagne for our 10 year relationship anniversary in September, and then saving the wine for our 1st, 5th, 10th, and 20th anniversaries :)

  • We're saving ours for our first anniversary. It's currently in my grandfather's extra freezer in his basement as there's no room for it in our freezer! Some people say it's not so bad, but we'll see!

  • we froze a slice that we put in the foodsaver and then wrapped in foil.  We'll try it on 5/19/13 but already have cupcakes ordered in our cake flavor from the bakery for our 1 year anniversary.

  • we were planning to keep ours for our 1st anniversary, but because of extenuating circumstances it was taken away :-(

i'll just make a new red velvet cake for our one year!  :-)

  • We just saved the top layer after trying to offload tons of cake on people the day after the wedding and were still left with that, so its waiting for 2013....I didn't even eat any on the day of the wedding, so I am kind of looking forward to having it next may....but a friend of the family made it for me and its the type of cake she usually makes for my b-day anways which is in may....so if it tastes gross I'll just have enjoyed the same kind 2 weeks before anyways!

  • We saved our whole top tier and will eat it on 5-19-13. We actually do have an extra freezer since H hunts and fishes we always need the extra space.
  • The entire top tier of our cake is in second fridge (in the garage).  It looks like it had a rouge trip back from the venue.  We will keep it there, and attempt to eat it on our 1 year anniversary, but I don't really expect it to be delish.  For us, it's more about the recalling the memories of our most awesome wedding day, and having a piece of that day left with us to share.

  • We saved ours and we'll eat it on our 1 year anniversary. We are going to also drink the fancy bottle of champagne my parents gave us.

  • To save money we didn't save the topper and gave it to our guests. We also had no way to get it home safely and decided it wasn't worth it.
  • Our caterer smashed ours on accident :-( We ate it the next day with OOT company, and we're planning on just ordering a new one on our 1st anniversary.
