My DH and I are doing this right now and so far have been successful. We have done it in the past and been successful too, but we usually "give up" way too quickly and don't totally meet our weight loss goals, so we are hoping this time will be different! This is day 17 of the diet and I've lost 9.5 lbs and hes lost (I think?) 12 lbs. I realize that thats mostly or all water weight but it still is making us feel better! My goal is to lose 30 lbs. I am 5'9", had a baby 6 months ago, was 204 before the pregnancy, 218 the day I gave birth (so I only gained 14 lbs), then got back down to 204, and then got down to 200 somehow. So I started at 200 1st day of the diet and am currently (as of today) at 190.5. My "wedding weight" the day we got married was 178 and I could fit into a size 8 then, so I am shooting for at least that again but hopefully more like 170 and if I am able to make that goal, I may then make another! My DH started at 213, is now 199 and his goal is to get down to 185.
Basically, we eat eggs, bacon, sausage, protein shakes, salads, grilled chicken, assorted veggies, thats about it:)
Earlier this year I was walking and running 4 miles a day sometimes twice a day 6-7 days a week and eating healthy but not on a strict diet, did this for 2 months and didn't lose a pound!! Go figure that since starting this diet I have not excercised at all (too hot out) and am just dieting without excercise and its working way better than it did when I was busting my tail killing myself every day for 2 months and getting nowhere!!
Anyway, is there anyone else right now doing the same/similar kind of diet? What is/has been your success? Are you excercising too or just dieting? I would love to hear stories and maybe we can all keep each other motivated!:)
Re: Anyone here currently doing (or have done) paleo/atkins/low carb?
I did the 17 Day Diet. A lot of my friends did 17 day, and lost a good bit of weight. My dad went on it and lost like 30 lbs. I lost about 8 lbs (and I cheated a little bit, bc I didn't want to lose more than 10 and I lost the first 8 really quickly) and my husband dropped about 20.
The only thing that was hard for us was that the first cycle (it's 4 cycles of 17 days each) can get a bit boring, because you basically eat nothing but veggies and lean proteins (white chicken, turkey, and certain kinds of fish--mostly white fish like tilapia). There is also a lot of cooking that needs to be done, and I work 2 jobs so there are days where I'm working 14 hrs a day, getting home at 10, and I need to stay up even later to make lunch for tomorrow.
That being said, if you can put the work into it... it really worked for us and a lot of people we know. There are also a ton more recipes you can find online that didn't exist when I starting out with it. I think 17 Day was on The Doctors, and on their website there is this forum where people post TONS of recipes.
