Anniversary Plans

Now that it's coming up on 8 months for us all, anyone have any exciting plans for their first anniversary?

We are thinking of doing a weekend in the mountains of Vermont or the Poconos. Something cute with a fireplace was my only request!

We've been talking about just maybe going back to the place we stayed for our honeymoon and having a couple relaxing days but I'm not sure. We probably won't be able to do anything too exciting since I'll be big and round by then.

I really want hubby to get a vacation though he really hasn't had one since he started this job three years ago and even our honeymoon was only 2 days really. So maybe I can get him to take a week off and go do something relaxing.

  • We haven't made plans yet, but are hoping to take a vacation to either Mexico or Jamaica. If those plans fall through, we'll go to Florida again, where we were for our HM. We're hoping to make it an annual trip since not many tourists are around in November. :)

  • We are planning to go to San Diego and stay at the hotel where we had our reception and go out to this really awesome French restaurant. I also can't wait to eat our top tier thats going to be remade! Hopefully I will be pregnant by then as well!!

  • DH and I are going to a local small town with a pier and an adorable downtown district.  We're going to eat at a nice Italian restaurant, exchange gifts, and walk the pier/beach at sunset.  Big Smile

We originally wanted to take a short cruise that we didn't end up getting to go on for our HM, but we're closing on our house next month, so we'll probably still be way too broke for a cruise, haha.

  • We're planning on a couple of nights away somewhere. We can't decide.  It's the beginning of retail Christmas season, so H will be blacked out for PTO at work. Hopefully we'll be pregnant by then, so we'll just have a relaxing mini vacation. :)

I may have told you ladies this before, but in a hilariously ironic twist, the NFL has scheduled Steelers vs. Giants on Sunday, November 4.  Our first anniversary.  LOL.  I kind of really want to go to the game, and we have a couple friend who are the opposite of us (husband Giants fan, wife Steelers fan), I think it would be fun to go with them.

Otherwise, we are still trying to work out a belated honeymoon.  Life keeps getting in the way but I figure if we don't go before our first anniversary it won't really be a honeymoon anymore.

  • We are going to Costa Rica for a few days on Nov. 8th, which is a few weeks before our anniversary, but we're going to treat that as our anniversary gift and vacation.
  • H owns an old 2.5 ton Army truck and he was asked to be in a Veterans' Day parade, his only condition was that I can be in it too. So we'll be in a parade decked out in our green camouflage. We're still up in the air on going to Disney's Food and Wine Festival. If we don't go, we'll be staying at the same hotel we stayed at on our wedding night.

  • We're headed back to the big island. Trying to decide if we want 1 week or 2.  Of course I'm leaning towards 2!
  • We haven't discussed it at all. But I kind of feel like going to Hawaii the first week of October is close enough. Our honeymoon lands on the day before Thanksgiving this year, so I feel that that kind of helps us to decide to stay home and just relax.

  • H and I are going to Vegas with friends in October, so we kind of consider that to be our big anniversary celebration.  H and I might stay over at the inn where we had our reception for our anniversary weekend.

  • If hubby finally gets a job, then he won't be able to take the time off; if he doesn't get a job, we can't afford to go anywhere.  So, it will probably be just one night at our wedding night hotel.

  • I got my dress shortened (it's just above knee length now) so our plan is to dress up in our wedding outfits, and go out for a fancy dinner. It should be fun, since we live in a SUPER casual beach town.

I think we would have planned a trip or something, but we are going to NYC with my family for Thanksgiving week, so we're just going to do that instead.

  • We won a trip on the radio for 2 nights in Vegas (plus an $800 Southwest GC for airfare). Wooooohoo! Vegas is definitely a place I would want to go just to say I've been there but I'm most certainly glad we're not paying more than $400 for the weekend (airfare is more than $800, + food, and maybe cirque de soleil)

  • We bought a travel Groupon for Roatan which we planned to do for an anniversary trip, but since November is the rainy season there, we decided to go a little early, so we'll be going in September instead.  We still may do a short weekend trip for our actual anniversary though.
