So after not finding anything in my field after almost 2 months of looking, it came to the point where I need anything really. Turns out friends of mine were looking for a nanny just for the short term so they can make some extra money, so I am now a nanny of a 2 year old boy and 8 month old girl 4-5 days a week. Doesnt change things too much since I already have my nephew (1.5) part time, but the extra money sure helps!
It works out really well too because I told them that if something comes up in my field I need to take it and I didn't want to drop them in a lurch if that happens, but they said that its fine because they really just planning on working for the summer for the extra money and will just quit earlier if I need to quit. So yay to having a little bit of wieght and stress lifted....buys me some more time to find a job in my feild ![]()
Re: Found a job! (sort of)
What is your field?
And I've kind of been toying with the idea of nannying, sounds like you just know people, but I've kind of been looking around for nanny jobs on different websites a bit.
My field is social service - so like social work without the social work pay....typically in shelters, womens centers, addictions programs, youth programs, transition houses, drop-in centers or mental health programs....but its a field that jobs really only come up through referrals and I just moved when I got married, so dont know any of the local agencies, this way maybe I can start volunteering somewhere so I can start getting to know who is more local and make those connections to be able to hear about when more jobs come up.
