Does anyone have any experience with cleaning services? (XP)
Would a professional maid service and steam cleaner/ carpet cleaning service be worth the cost? What should I look for when hiring someone? I have been ill for over 2 months now and the apartment needs some major tlc.
I would most likely be home since I am sick and slowly recovering. Would this make a difference to the cleaning service?

I've never had a cleaning service, but probably should have - esp when I was ill for a while. It would probably help you out a lot while you are sick too. I have hired someone to clean carpets a few times though - well worth the money! Look for some Groupon deals in your area and check out their company on Yelp if possible.
I don't think you being there makes a difference, but ask just in case.

My dad has a cleaning lady come every other week (it's the same woman my grandparents use). It was nice knowing I had clean sheets and a clean kitchen & bathroom when I lived with him.
We're having our carpets cleaned next month and I think I want to bring up the subject of having a cleaning service over once right before they do the carpets to do a thorough cleaning.
I think it'll be nice for you since you've been sick so much. When my nephews were born my bro & SIL had a cleaning service come just since they weren't able to keep up with the cleaning with the newborn.
Are you looking for someone once, or regularly?
Before the wedding I bought a groupon for a cleaning service to just come out once & clean for x amount of hours (maybe 4?). She asked me to give her a prioritized list of what I wanted done. I see them on groupon frequently.. and she did a good job! I met her there, then left for work, and there was no problem.

I'm looking for someone to just come once for the maid service. Maybe I'll like them and use them again. This place needs a good cleaning. I normally rent a steam cleaner and do it myself 2-3 times a year. But I am not up to it and the carpet needs a cleaning badly.
I'll look on groupon and see if I can find something and make sure they do what needs to be done. And I'll be sure to ask if I can hang around.
