Vents? Aws?

My moons must be out of whack today b/c I'm aggravated and just need a hug!

Re: Vents? Aws?

  • Awe, big hug Clare!

Vent: my cat situation continues to be a low point in my life. Now she's getting sick every day and not eating. I was already fretting over what to do with her after we move (to avoid ruining our new house with cat urine) and now I'm fretting over whether she needs to go to the vet and how much diagnosis/treatment we'd be willing/able to pay for if she's not well. In some ways it would be for the best if she died of natural causes, but I also don't want her to suffer. I feel like a monster saying that, but it's true :(

On the bright side (AW), things are finally moving along with the house and we have our pre-drywall meeting scheduled on Friday. Now that the sale of our house is final (our buyers turned out to be lovely landlords) and our rate is locked (at 3.5%!) I'm feeling pretty calm about the whole thing.

  • Hugs, Clare! I hope your day improves.

My silly vent: I brought in leftover taco meat for lunch along with tortilla chips; I ran out of chips and still had meat left.  We are completely out of forks and spoons, so I had to scoop up the rest of the meat with a knife. It made me sad, I hate when my ratios of food are out of proportion.

My AW: I moved offices yesterday!  It's not bigger, but it's in an area with more people, so that's always fun.  And I'm not right next to the break room now, hooray for not having to smell everyone's lunch!

  • I'm in a bad mood too, Clare. I'm annoyed by the general public today and entitled attitude that so many people have.

AW is that we go on vacation in 16 days and not a minute too soon!

  • Hugs Clare!

I am blanking on anything to vent or AW about today, but love the new ticker in (or is it on) your siggy! :)

  • Vent: My doctor's office promised to have blood work results back to me in 24 hours, even when I called b.s.

AW: I had a three hour nap today and it was glorious.

  • Vent: I was chosen as a juror yesterday during jury duty.   I don't mind (I've always wanted to be on a jury), but what sucked is that it took longer than they planned to interview jurors and I have been up in the air as to when I'd have to go back.  (They released us early yesterday, since we were already chosen, but the chances of them finishing before the day was over was slim to none. So they took our numbers and told us they'd call).    I don't work on Wednesdays so I need to make other arrangements for my kids, so I needed to know.  (And most of my family who can babysit are at the beach this week).    And also, it's a pretty heavy duty case and I'm scared.

AW:  I have been going to zumba classes for over a year now.  And when I take the toning/strength classes, I can not do a push up.  Just wasn't able to do it.  In class last week, I was able to do 4!    (They are girl ones on my knees, but it's something!)

  • AW:  We are all moved into our new house and I am LOVING it!  The girls have their own rooms and we're not all on top of each other like at our previous house.  I'm breathing a big sigh of relief that it's all finally over and we're in our forever home.

  • Ha! Thanks Caron!

Vent: I got brought into a project a few months ago, due to my former experience at another company. OMG it is driving me crazy - my boss, her boss and another colleague are all running around creating a muck of a mess (I think they are nervous b/c of the higher-up running this program) and me and a co-worker (the mere peons doing the legwork) are just overwhelmed by this time sucker. Even my sales officers (the guinea pigs) are starting to get annoyed with us.

Vent: my co-workers are coming up with excuse after excuse to not take new jobs coming in and I'm feeling forced to take them b/c, well, they need to be done. I'm tired of the excuses - I have my own projects I'm putting on hold to take these new ones. Suck it up people! And my international sales people have demanding clients and so they want me to get pricing approvals - which I shouldn't be doing - and they basically want to give away everything but the kitchen sink.

Vent: My DH's job is aggravating me and his oblivion to the crud is annoying me as well. I'm trying to be supportive of this transition he made, but I'm fed up.

Vent: My house - I'm sick of living in a construction zone. I can't stand the dust, the disorganization, and DH's oblivion to it all. It needs done. I'm over it - I want my extra 300 sq ft to setup the play room and office, and I want to do laundry in a non-dust covered laundry room.

Vent: my co-worker who's had one personal issue after another and feels she is entitled to more from the boss/company. Meanwhile, she is the only f/t remote worker (out of state) and I've told her 100x to stop looking a gift horse in the mouth; I would kill to be 100% remote.

Vent: friends who post 10x a day on FB about every little thing in their SAHM lives; but my favorite is the complaints when their kids "woke up at 7am today - oh it's going to be a long day." Wah freaking wah. My kid is up at 5:30 on the weekends  and I don't get to nap b/c I work. And I'm lucky if I get to the movies once a year, let along 2x in one week. Most people can't relate to your first-world problems - be happy with what you have.

Man, I am a grumpy SOB today. Blah!!!

  • Vent-DH flew to Key West last Friday to sell his dad's houseboat.  Friday the lady gave us the check (which DH sent up here and I put in the bank on Monday).  And Monday she backs out of the deal.  Who does that?!?  If they check had already cleared I would have told her tough nuggets lady.  If you don't want it anymore sell it.

Now DH is going to be home a day later than planned and I have a tough time being a single mom, mostly because of the dog who gets upset and acts out when DH is gone.

AW-Should be closing on our land next week!  Waiting for the actual date from the realtor.

  • Hugs, Clare!  I'm in a mood today, too - that cranky state of not being sure if I want to cry or rip someone's face off.  Hope you feel better!

My vent/whine is that we had plans to go out with friends on Saturday night and had to cancel because I caught a stomach virus (4th one this year, wtf).  Our a/c is broken, and it was like 90 in our house over the weekend, so that really helped me feel better. But mostly I am just annoyed with myself for having a hard time recovering from being cranky and miserable. I hate being in a funk!

Way to go, Amber, great job!  (although they are modified push ups!  Sorry, couldn't resist! Wink)

  • I can't find a freakin' job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have ten years teaching experience and two Master's degrees in education from Duquesne with a 4.0 GPA and I can't get anything!

Today, I got offered a job at nice daycare in the north hills and they offered me $9.45 an hour!  That comes out to about $1,512 a month before taxes.  Then to add insult to injury, I could take the girls with me and get an employee discount for the low, low, price of $1,422.  So really, I would be making negative money.

I have no idea how I am going to pay bills.  I am broke.  Working part time retail is not helping either.  I got a whopping $38 paycheck from Janie and Jack :(

  • Vent: The kids I nanny for have not been sleeping for the past few weeks, and it is driving me insane!!  They're 6-month-old twins, and they will sleep for 20 minutes and then one of them wakes up and wakes the other one up and then they're huge fussy grumps until it's time for the next nap.  I am SO glad I only have 3 more weeks left until we move to Pittsburgh!

  • Vent - I'm back at work after a week off and it looks like it's going to be an awful day. I'm not at all looking forward to the next 8 hours:(

AW - it was the most awesome week off, I had a great time:)

It's tough for teachers out there.  My brother and a friend of mine both have masters degrees in education and can't find anything.   My bro is secondary and my friend is elementary.

My friend subs at several school districts and is able to get jobs everyday--but she also has to work at a tutoring place on the evenings/weekends to make ends meet...and she's single with no kids!  I can't imagine how rough it is--hang in there--from what they tell me most schools don't post their openings until August.

I understand this, too. In OH, you need a bachelor's degree to teach pre k-3rd grade. I was fully licensed to teach in OH. In PA - not so much. I barely qualify to teach preschool. It's frustrating for sure.

I hear ya about PA and teacher overload which makes them have very strict criteria.  When I was in VA doing grad school, I subbed a few days here and there and only in the best districts to break up my studying.  I got some "emergency" certificate so I could teach.  I only should've taught bio and chem since those were my major/minor (also could do Spanish since it was a major too) and ended up doing physics, calc and other maths since they were in dire straights of teachers.

  • Subbing doesn't matter what your certification is. I have a M.Ed in Secondary Social Studies and subbed for everything from PE to Math, you are a warm body that can distribute the lesson.

I do totally feel you on the lack of teaching position in PA but that is because they pay well and people don't want to leave. Plus, with the budget cuts there have been a lot of layoffs and attrition. Signed, M.Ed working as office manager.

  • I know pa educator never helped me find a teaching job but this site did. It's through the diocese of Pittsburgh. http://www.fpdt.net/jobs.shtml. I went to duquesne too! . Good luck with your search.
