I'm not a professional......

I'm not a professional photographer, but I do take lots of pictures and edit them when I have the time. There are some of my work that I'd like to share but don't want anyone to take the credit for it. So, my question is: Can I still name my work even thought it's not really a business?? (example: MyNamePhotography)

Thanks in advance for the feedback

Re: I'm not a professional......

  • You can watercolor your images, too. But yes, you can name your pictures as you said.

ETA: that was one of the first things my photog instructor talked about.

  • You can put a water mark on them. It can be just your last or first name if it's visible. You can also add a copyright. That way if the photo is ever used it will show up in any photo editing program. There are also places you can pay to trace where your photos are being downloaded too and used (if I remember correctly).

Just google watermarking and copywriting photos. If you have a specific program you use (light room/ photoshop) make sure to add that to your search.

  • I'm kind of in the same boat as you.  I'm not exactly a professional but I do some freelance stuff to help pay for college and sell some of my stuff at flea markets and stuff like that.  You can absolutely put "YouNamePhotography" that's what I did.  You can always add watermarks with software like photoshop.

  • I would do as the others suggested.
