Dreaming of an ex!

I'll start by saying I've been dating the most wonderful person I've ever met in my whole life. We've been together for a little over two months and up until Saturday night have NEVER had any issues! So I was looking for some input on this...Saturday night my guy and I attended a party where he drank (I drove) for most of the party. When we got home he went straight to bed and at about 3 in the morning I woke to him rubbing my inner thighs and boobs calling out his ex's name. I was not pleased however I did try waking him and it just didn't happen. When he woke the next morning I asked him if he missed her and he made it clear he did not! He seemed upset that it had even happend and stated he drank a lot and it was just a dream. He also made it clear that he loves me and doesn't want to get back with her by ANY means.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Re: Dreaming of an ex!

  • I want to first apologize for laughing my a** off at your post!  I can't even imagine the rude awakinging that I would inflict on my husband if I were ever awoken to a situation like that!  However,  I dream about exes all of the time, I have no interest in the men of my past emotionally or phyiscally but every now and then they show up hot and steamy in my dreams.  Trust what he says but be aware of any signs.  If all of a sudden he begins to text her or stalk her facebook page then you know something is not correct.  GL!

  • He drinks too much.

    Dump this jerk.
  • No, but you can't hold people responsible for what they say in their sleep.

I have bizarre sex dreams about all sorts of people, many of them exes. I would never actually consider sleeping with any of them.  Except Alexander Skaarsgard. I would totally sleep with him.

  • I can see why you'd be upset, and I would be, too, and I'd probably have a hard time getting past it.  That said, at the same time I'd know that it probably truly meant nothing, and that dreams just happen.  I'd be mortified if Mr. Kuus knew about some of the people I had sex dreams about.

What's the deal TarponMonoxide? You always recommend breaking up as your solution....not all that helpful.

I've noticed that myself. Sometimes a break-up is what's called for, but Tarpon's default is "dump him". (Oh, and "get tested".) Any particular reason, Tarpon? Bad relationships? Emotional baggage? Distrust of men in general?

OP, dreams are funny things. I once dreamt that a talking parrot was trying to kill me, and I sometimes dream about my exes. It doesn't mean I want anything to do with them in real life, and it doesn't mean I'm parrot-phobic. I'd let it go.

  • Grace, I agree with most of these ladies. I've had a number of sex dreams since I've been married and have been absolutely mortified when I woke up... I would NEVER sleep with any of those people in real life!! I knows it must've hurt you but I also think it was just a dream...
  • I agree with everyone else.  I've had several dreams about a certain ex, and trust me if I ever saw him again I'd punch him in the face, NO feelings whatsoever.  I always wake up pissed off at myself for dreaming about him but you can't control what you dream about.  That being said, I'd be mad too if that happened to me and I'd be sure to find a way to wake him up and confront him.  I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless his behavior starts changing.  And really, it's only been 2 months, maybe he really likes you and it's just his subconscious messing with his head.  (My dreams got more intense and frequent the closer to my wedding with DH)
  • I can't say that I've ever had THAT happen, lol, but... I've done 'similar.' Back when my husband and I had been dating for about 2 months I got wasted and called him by my ex-husband's name. As soon as I did it, I felt so horrible and started crying. I did NOT miss my ex-husband, I loathed him with the intensity of a thousand suns, but we had been together for 6 years and I guess it was just a name I was used to saying. We did talk about it the morning and my husband has never brought it back up and has never harbored any hard feelings about it (that I know of) - I also have not gotten that hammered since then.

This was nearly 5 years ago and we've been married for almost 3. I do, however, have dreams of my ex-husband occasionally. I still do NOT want to go back to him, but what bothers me is that I'm a sleep talker. I usually have very vivid dreams when I do dream, complete with emotions. Some of the dreams have had me seeing red with rage... then others have had me feeling like I should be with him.

However, these are just DREAMS. What scares me is that my husband will hear me sleep talking during of these dreams (he likes to egg it on by asking me questions, etc.) and I'll say something that I totally don't mean. It usually wakes me up when he starts interracting with me, but I've told him not to do it because I can't be responsible for what I might say. Of course, he doesn't listen to me. I just don't want to hurt him... I have absolutely no feelings for my ex-husband, but I know it would probably upset me if I he did something like that - or at least give me something to aggravate him about, lol.

I know its not funny when its happening to you, but we've got a lot of humor in our marriage and try to make light of most things :)
