I am so entirely sick of taking the pill everyday. I feel like I'm forgetting more often than not & it's freaking me out of course. I am seriously considering getting the BC implant. My doctor is all for it & I've been doing some research online, but want real people reviews. Has anyone had it?
Also, my insurance covers it 100% which is waaaaaay better than my $55 copay every month for the pill.
ADVISE ME!!
Re: Implanon BC implant
I don't know anyone who has ever gotten this, and I have never discussed it in the many visits with my physician about contraception.
Have you considered the IUD? Even if you've never delivered, it can be inserted.
I had the Implanon for 2 years. I got it because it was easy (didn't have to worry about forgetting to take a pill), cheap ($15 for the insertion, no costs monthly as you mentioned), and my gyno told me that I would likely not have a period.
When it was implanted, I had quite a bruise for a week or so, but there is no scar even after removal. I really liked it, and I didn't have a period for about 1 1/2 years. However, the last 6 months on it, I was so sick of it. I started becoming very irregular with my periods, some spotting, some heavy, sometimes 1 day, sometimes 14 days. I finally had it removed a year before the dosage ran out.
I would recommend it, because that is not normal for everyone, and I loved it while I was on it. Another easy recommendation is Nuva Ring- once a month, so you don't have to worry about forgetting it.
