Restaurant Recommendations
So, our anniversary is tomorrow and we are going to dinner on Friday or Saturday. Any suggestions? We are not picky and I am willing to spend money on a great meal.
And go.
Re: Restaurant Recommendations
I don't know what area your looking for but, Hofftstots in Oakmont is amazing. Plus Oakmont Bakery is right beside it, YUM!
We're Married!! And I couldn't be happier!
We don't tend to go to many unique restaurants.
If we go out and plan to spend a lot, we go to the Melting Pot. I like to eat there because it's slow, relaxing and I like the mood lighting (ha!).
We ate at McCormick and Schmick's for V-day.
That's about as interesting as our dinners out have gotten. We tend to stick close to home!
Is there a particular type of food you're looking for?
Somewhere I've wanted to try forever is Bona Terra in Sharpsburg.
I've only been a few times, but I've really enjoyed Salt of the Earth, but that's a restaurant that's not for everyone. Our birthday dinner each year is Casbah, and if you like Japanese, we LOVE Umi. Their black miso cod is my favorite menu item anywhere.

I just passed this place the other day & recalled we had a great meal there - Tuscan Inn on Wildwood Road. Also a fan of Andora.
My assistant is in love with Salt - would go there every week if she could afford it. Plus I heard its a fun atmosphere.
Also been to Spoon & Tamari and both were really good.
How time flies! Caileigh (9), Keira (6) & Eamon (3)
A second Sheila's Tamari recommendations. That's another place Steve and I love when we have a date night.
If you get there for happy hour during the week, they have a great deal on sushi and most of their tapas.

... or take out Chinese food on the couch while watching tv and wearing PJs.
We like Niki's thai kitchen in the north side. Point Brugge, Dish, Sushi Tomo to name a few not mentioned.
Tamari is my favorite place in the Burgh - they just opened one in in the Strayer strip mall in Warrendale but I prefer the L-ville location.
I'd also suggest Avenue B in Shadyside great BYOB / chalkboard menu place. Really, really great food.
I've been to most of the places on that list posted above (mike and i are actually trying to knock off the ones we haven't been to by the end of the summer) and also really enjoy Dish (definitely need a reservation, really small). I wasn't wow-ed by Salt but I'd go back for another try. Andora is in my backyard and it's great - the patio is really nice, but I don't love sitting inside.
I really want to try Cure and Nikki's Thai kitchen - I've heard great things.
Two of my favorite splurges are Toast in Bloomfield/Shadyside area on Baum and Cafe Zinho in Shadyside off of Ellsworth. I've always wanted to try La Tavola Italiana in Mt. Washington on Boggs, but I always forget about it when it is time to go to a nice place.

mmmmm tavola is amazing. we had our RD there. in the 3 years we lived on the mtn we only went there three times (including our RD) because we also always forgot about it. and we still forget about it, which is such a shame because it is SO worth it.
When I lived in MtW I was a poor kid in a grad program right out of college. I would walk past it all the time and think, when I'm a real adult, I'm going there. My 22 year old self is disappointed in me.

I feel like the lone Pittsburgher who doesn't love La Tavola.
I like it, but it didn't excite me and make me want to come back again and again. My last experience there was at a group function. The food was good, but the service was awful.
We have had a number of great meals at Park Bruges.
Mmmmm, poutine.
Seriously..
Ive been there for breakfast but Im looking forward to a return trip.

Oh, and, H and I had a fantastic meal at Habitat in the Fairmont. One of my favorite meals out in Pgh. We went to Andy's once and really didn't like it at all (the food was really salty), but Habitat was fantastic and fresh.
Edit: I just read the reviews of it on urbanspoon and it was quite mixed, so maybe I just had a really good experience and the place is hit or miss.

ECHO in Cranberry
La Tavola, Mt. Washington (you can ask if they'll make the steak stuffed with crab - yummm) and it's BYOB
DISH, in the Strip
I was not impressed with Salt, but it might not have helped that I was there on a Friday during Lent. I just didn't find their selection to be appealing.
I'll have to make a list, too, Kris, because I get to try fun new places with my NYC colleagues when they come into town, or my single friends from college when they all come into town. Otherwise, DH and I are boring. LOL Have fun!
My three sons!
Running to make a list. I am going to be dorky and list resturants by part of town so we can randomly pick them. We are in a rut.
Not a special night out or anything but I had two sushi rolls from Dragon Fire in the Galleria in Mt. Lebanon and they were pretty yummy. Not an extensive menu or anything but still good.
