Good Books

Have you read any lately? H and I are embarking on a 30-hr road trip to New England today, and I need some suggestions. I'm reading 1Q84 for book club, but I'd like to add at least one more. I'm feeling like a good mystery or comedy. Nothing that will make me think TOO much. :)

Re: Good Books

  • Tina Fey's Bossypants really cracked me up. If you haven't read it yet you should.

I read Divergent and Insurgent on our road trip a couple of weeks ago. Great books.

  • Beauty Queens by Libba Bray was really fun and unique. The audiobook was fabulous too.

Already read (and enjoyed) both! Haha. I haven't read Insurgent yet, but I'm a little burnt out on dystopian YA novels.

TY - I will look into this one.

  • I really liked Beauty Queens, but the majority of my book club didn't, so take that for what you will.

I recently read The Postmortal, it's a science fiction novel by a sportswriter and pretty good. Not light reading, really, though.

  • I know you're already on the road, but I always enjoy any of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels for something light.
  • Thanks for the recs! I ended up remembering that I've been meaning to start Ender's Game for, like, ever, so I'm reading that now (even though it's another dystopian novel!). So far, so good.

  • Jennifer Weiner has a new book out, and I'm always a fan of what she writes, but I've yet to read that one. It's called The Next Best Thing.

If you haven't read the Hunger Games Trilogy, you should hop on that.
