Ugh--I'm mad!

Let me vent for a quick minute---My DH had a teaching job interview at 9 this morning at a school that is 5 minutes away from where we live. I went to get blood work. I arrived back home at 8:54. DH knows that it is almost mandatory to arrive 15 minutes to an interview. We've talked about this plenty of times. Well as I was getting home, he was leaving------yes at 8:54! So not only did he not arrive 15 minutes early, he also might have arrived late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am beyond mad. This interview is super important and he's jepordizing it by not making a good first impression.

There are certain things in this marriage that I will always be mad about, his lateness is one of them! I'm so mad. Thanks for letting me vent.

  • Yikes!  Hopefully he wasn't late.  But I do agree, being early makes a better first impression.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that he does really well in his interview.  I'm right there with you on being late always making me mad.

My DH is similar in that if it takes 10 minutes to get somewhere he's fine in leaving 10 minutes before his appointment.  But I try to appreciate that at least he likes to be on time instead of late.

  • As an HR professional I will say that someone arriving more than 10 minutes early drives me nuts. I dont really put too much into it if a person arrives early for an interview. However, if they are more than 10 minutes late they just blew it for themselves. I always allow a little grace period because things happen that are out of the persons control.

I'm sure he made it on time!

  • I couldn't imagine not leaving early in this area.  A 20 minute drive can easily become a 2 hour nightmare.

  • Well I talked to him and he said he had stomach issues and was in the bathroom longer than expected so that's why he didn't leave earlier. He said he arrived right on time and the secratary said, "Hello Dennis, right on time". He also said his interview went real well and that it lasted an entire hour! I'm not mad anymore.

  • Sounds like a great interview for him.  I hope he's feeling better.  Maybe it was just nerves?

  • Ben always underestimates the time it takes to get things done or get somewhere. He's gotten better but it's still an issue.

I'm glad Dennis arrived on time. Hopefully he'll get a call back!

  • What an amusing turn of events to read through at one time! It sounds like it went well, I hope he gets a call back for a second interview!
