Dog owners -? for you

What do you use to scoop the poop?  We've been using a regular shovel for years but there has to be a better way.  I feel like it takes me forever to pick up the pile without picking up the yard too.

Re: Dog owners -? for you

  • My hubby uses this thing that's a long stick with a rake like piece at the bottom. You attach a plastic bag (the grocery store ones) to the bottom before starting and the poop goes right in. I think it was about $30 and I went nuts when he bought it but he doesn't mind cleaning up after our dog anymore so I guess it was worth it!
  • a pooper scooper!

Scooper Pans with Rake or Spade

like the one on the left- but I prefer the "spade" over the rake.  But my old one broke and the pet store I went to to replace it only had rakes (and it is a weak rake). I have been using something similar for a long time. Like 8 years.

  • we recently go this thing from tractor supply store that was black plastic and it had this claw thing at the end. worked way better then a shovel. Joy!!

We use one of these things.  It works well...at least DH says it does!  ;)

  • I feel like a very unclassy dog owner...I use a walmart bag and my hand.  I mean, my hand IN the walmart bag, of course.  Then I flip it inside out, tie it off, and drop it in the garbage.

Yep, I like to scoop as they go so we don't have large piles.

  • I use a little shovel, like one you would use to dig a hole to plant flowers.

I'm fortunate enough that I can just toss it over the hill (into the woods) behind my house so I don't really need a bag.  Otherwise I'd do that.
