Worst Luck Ever (vent)

So...My parents have been with the same bank for 30 years so needless to say when I was a kid I had my savings account there and stayed with them into adulthood. About 7 years ago they kind of screwed me over when I was out of the country (lost my card, they wouldnt replace it unless I came in...but I was living in Mexico, and had no money, how was I supposed to even get back to canada?), And locked me out of online banking so I couldnt even send the money to family or something so that they could send it to me as cheques. I was sooo pissed off that when I moved home I changed banks, I kept a savings account there, but did most of my banking at another bank.

H is with said bank and has been forever and has had no problems. So when we joined our accounts it was easier to with his because he already has direct deposits for taxes, morgage, work on his account. So we went in and changed my name and merged my savings account into his chequings account, and they told me that I would get a new card in the mail, but in the meantime my old card would work. Guess what. It didnt. When I tried to use it would say this card is inactive. So I went back into the bank and they gave me a new temp card until I got my card in the mail....promising me it would work, but that it would take a day to be activated. Wellllll it still didnt work...this time saying 'no access to funds'.

So I decided to wait for the new card and it finally came on wednesday so I went into the bank yesterday and finally they fixed the problem...apparently they had merged the accounts, but had filed it as a secondary savings account on my card...which is not accessible by atm. So great finally my card works....

Today I go to do some bill paying and open my wallet. My card isnt there....I must have lost the new card yesterday. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH not only do I already remember why I hated this bank in the first place, but now I have to go back and wait for yet ANOTHER new card......again.

  • I have worked for a bank like this and STILL think you're completely right to be frustrated.  It's unfortunate that some banks don't realize how heavily people depend on those cards and find a way to update their process and make things more accessible.

    Aside from that I'll just say that sucks and I hope your new card comes soon!
