So speaking of dining room sets, I could use some help!!
We have a double pedestal dining table with kind of a county feel. Right now we have basic black windsor chairs, but I really want to replace the chairs with something a little more updated. Not modern, still rustic?. just not SO traditional/country as the windsor chairs. We want to use this table (since it is 124? w/leaves) in our formal dining in the new house. I don?t really want the room to be formal but I want to dress the table up a bit, if that makes any sense. What kind of chairs do you think you'd use?????
Our table (black w/ dark cherry top):
And this is similar to what the pedestal looks like underneath:
Re: Want to help me find dining room chairs???
That would be really pretty with more current chairs. Like I said in Meg's post, TJ Maxx/Marshall's/Homegoods always have unique upholstered chairs. Most have espresso legs though for some reason, but it's worth checking.
Finding black legs might be hard in general unless you go with just more black wood chairs, but something like this (Kirklands) could work b/c the legs are light and obviously not meant to match:
Or this (also Kirklands) with a slip long enough to cover the legs:
I'm also into mismatched chairs thing right now, so I could see it being really pretty with two chairs of a different style at the heads of the table. Maybe like these (from Ikea):
I like the mis-matched idea too.... I've recently seen pics with 4 wooden side chairs and then 2 upholstered chairs at the ends and really loved it.
I do really like your 1st & 3rd pics. is that Ikea chair metal?
What do you think of these two?
The Ikea chair is wicker.
I like those! They are probably a little closer to what you already have, but if you added the couple of upholstered ones at the ends it would give it a new look.
Something about the more square top makes them feel less country to me. I need to get to Ikea soon anyway, I'll have to look for that chair.
So if I have a black table w/ 6 black side chairs what color upholstered chair should I be looking for? Originally I liked the idea of grey but I dont think'll mix well with the cherry top....
I think benches could be fun too--although perhaps not as formal as you're looking for. Something like this:
The bench looks really pretty. Great, another option to consider... ha.
Just found a pic really close to what I pictured, except in black. Think this would would with my table style??
I like white, but I don't use a ton of color in furniture.
