What to do, see, shop and eat in Myrtle Beach, Sc?

We are going to Myrtle Beach Sc in a few weeks. I wanted some recommendations on where to shop ( both retail and thrift), eat, what to do and see while we are there. We are staying at http://www.myrtlewoodvillas.com . My sister in law picked this place so I don't know what part of Myrtle beach this is.

TIA

activities: mini-golf (seriously, MB is the mini-golf capital of the world, they hold the mini-masters here), the ripley's attractions (the aquarium, the believe-it-or-not-museum, there's a haunted house if you like those, etc), shows (there are a bunch of dinner theater or musical shows. we always pick one to see when we go), the boardwalk area (hit up an arcade and play some skeeball)

shopping: broadway at the beach has a lot of nifty shops. i'm not really a big fan of barefoot landing but some people love it. if you like christmas decor there are a couple of christmas shops and if you want to drive about 20-30 min into calabash, nc, there is a HUGE holiday shop as part of callahan's store.

eating: for breakfast, try the buffet at mammy's kitchen. it's been around forever and is pretty good. for lunch, i'm partial to sam's hot dogs. dinner options: prestons, chestnut hill, lee's inlet kitchen, the sea captain's house, rossi (italian), crabby mike's, and pretty much anywhere in murrell's inlet.

  • My husband and I went to see "The One" at the Alabama Theater and it was great.  We got our tickets buy one, get one free when we booked out hotel online. I'm not sure how much tickets are normally.  As pp said, there are mini-golf places EVERYWHERE!  I'm not sure of any that are better than the others, so the pick is really up to you.

There are two Tanger outlet malls, one is in between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach.  Both are really good.   Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach are both good, but have similar stores.  Broadway is much bigger and has rides from the old amusement park that was in MB.  Don't know if you're into antiques, but there is a huge antique mall in North Myrtle.  It's called B&B Antiques.  Also, if you like shopping for your home, Old Time Pottery is a great store, but it's way down past Myrtle Beach, almost in Surfside, but they have some pretty good deals.

As far as eating, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville (Broadway), T-Bonz(Barefoot), The Chesapeake House (in between North MB and MB) are all good.  Chesapeake House has Early Bird specials from 4-6 (cheaper prices and smaller portions).  That's when you need to go because it gets busy around 6 or after.  There was another place at Broadway we ate at that was good.  Can't remember the name of it, but it's near Senor Frogs.

  • Definitely go to the upside down museum at broadway on the beach. We were hesitant to go because of the price I think it was maybe 26 or so a person but it was SO worth it we had a blast and we were all in our mid 20's. We were just there this past September. Wet Willie's at broadway is a must for amazing create your own alcoholic slushies. Don't plan to drive afterwards! Also a last minute decision on our last day was to eat at Good Time Charley's and it was delicious! Away from broadway if you are looking for incredible ribs be sure to check out sticky fingers it's closer to the strip.
  • I'm from there, I actually own a condo at myrlte wood- its a nice part of town, it's close to broadway at the beach- which has a lotto do- shops, restaurants and activities. For restaurants Carolina Roadhouse is one of my favorites- its on business 17 near 44th ave north. I also like River City Cafe for burgers. It you want really good Italian check out Ciao- it's on business 17 near 67th ave north- I would suggest reservations if you go there.

If you want to see a show Carolina Opry is my favorite. There are a million miniature golf places- its kinda something you have to do in myrlte! Have a great time!
