Where to go?

Our one year anniversary is coming up in mid-September and we were hoping to take a 3-4 day vacation either with our 4 month old or without (undecided). We will be taking it about mid-August instead because I start classes on Aug. 28th. What are some ideas of good (reasonably priced) places to go? :)

We also have to be in an area where everything is walking distance or near transportation (ie. trolley, shuttle, train, metro) because neither of us is old enough to rent a car..

  • I'm not familiar with age requirements to rent a car.  Are you both 21 yet?

How about Las Vegas?  Even if you don't have much interest in gambling and/or nightlife, there is sooo much to do there.  You could spend that entire time and then some just sight seeing.  There are so many different shows and exhibits at each casino to see.  There are some amazing pools at a lot of the casinos too.  Restaurant choices are endless that fall into any budget.

Typically, airfare to Las Vegas is very reasonable and the hotels are ridiculously cheap to stay in.  I just did a quick hotwire search for 8/15-8/18 and found 5 star hotels on the strip for $99/nt and $112/nt.   A 3 star hotel on the strip is on there for $35/nt.  That's not even unusual.

You definitely don't need to rent a car.  You can walk nearly everywhere.  Cabs are lined up at the airport and at every casino/hotel and are readily available.  There is also a monorail that runs parallel with the strip that you can use too.
