Re: How was your weekend?

    • Highs? Family time!
    • Lows? I stayed up way too late watching Mad Men two nights in a row and now I'm exhausted. Also: didn't get enough crap done around the house.
    • Eat/make anything good? I went to Woodberry for brunch on Sunday and had baked goods and eggs benedict - it was all absolutely phenomenal!
    • Watch anything good? Between Saturday and Sunday night I watched episodes 1-10 of the first season of Mad Men. I'm hooked.
    • Read anything good? No, but last week I read Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth and they were absolutely excellent! I just don't know where to go from there.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? AW: It is so wonderful to have a paycheck again. 9 months of unemployment did a serious number on our finances and now that I've been working for a few months, we're starting to see a little relief. I feel like a weight has been lifted. We still have a way's to go before, say, our credit is in good shape again, but things are already substantially improved.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? I have an OB appointment and growth ultrasound on Friday. I'm anxious to see our little guy and how he's growing, and I should leave that appointment knowing the date of my C-section for certain. We touched on it at my last appointment, but we'll firm it up. I still have 8 weeks to go, but it's all feeling more and more real with each passing day. Also: getting two Craigstlist finds this week! And possibly getting the nursery furniture! And the weekend!

  • Highs? Faith's party--she was so stinkin cute! Lows? had a terrible photographer at Picture People yesterday so we have to go back again next weekend. I have a good coupon to use and I don't want it to go to waste.   Eat/make anything good? the orzo with roasted vegetables and cake were my favorites from the party Watch anything good? Ava's dance recital for the millionth time, lol Read anything good? I'm just a couple pages into a James Patterson book that DH just finished FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? I'm still really bitter and hurt that we still haven't heard anything from my father. Faith is a year old and he's never met her. On the flip side, DH's family is awesome as are my mom and step-dad so we are lucky. What are you looking forward to this week? DH is having hernia surgery on Friday so I'm not really looking forward to the week's end.

    • Highs? We saw lots of friends this weekend.
    • Lows? Not getting as much cleaning done as I had liked.
    • Eat/make anything good? Lots of yummy food on Saturday at the cookout we attended.
    • Watch anything good? Nope
    • Read anything good? I really need to start reading again.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? C has her 4 months wellness exam on Thursday. I'm excited to see how my little girl has grown. She's also so much more aware and talkative these days. I have noticed when she's in her car seat or swing that she's trying to sit up. Although she has no desire to roll over.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? C's doctor's appointment and just a relaxing weekend at home.

    • What are you looking forward to this week? Nothing really except payday.
    • Highs? Spending time with DH

    • Lows? The rental facility for my niece's birthday party had the thermostat set at 78.  With 40+ people in the room and an outside temp of almost 100, it was pretty miserable.

    • Eat/make anything good? Spinach Artichoke Dip - such an easy recipe and I could eat it every day!

    • Watch anything good? Finished season 4 of Mad Men. Caught up on MasterChef and Hell's Kitchen. LLHR - seasons 2 & 3 of Mad Men were a little slow but we stuck it out and  4 was really good!
    • Read anything good? No

    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? AW: I've gotten some compliments/commendation letters at work that although they don't translate into anything tangible, they still make me feel good! FFC: I want to see the Katy Perry movie.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Bday dinner tonight! Due to several logistical issues, I think we are going to Pachanga.

  • So sorry for your Aunt Gracie!!! I know that is a hard thing!

    • Highs? Jason Aldean concert last night. I'm paying for it today, but it was an amazing show!!

    • Lows? Came outside yesterday to learn someone has siphoned almost all of H's gas out of his truck. So pissed! That was over $150 in fuel.

    • Eat/make anything good? Went to Metro Diner with my Mom on Sat morning and it was great! I had an omelet and she had poached eggs.

    • Watch anything good? Not really.

    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? Vent: My 2nd summer class is really kicking my s$$! I feel like all I do is read or take a test. Come on Aug 9th!!

    • What are you looking forward to this week? I'm going to DC to dinner on Wed with a friend that I haven't seen in awhile. Other than that, I am looking forward to sleeping more than 4 hours tonight :)

    • Highs? Nothing in particular, just a nice relaxing weekend.
    • Lows? DH's truck is on a death spiral and died on the way home from  Home Depot Saturday.
    • Eat/make anything good? Yes - lots!  We went to Punk's yesterday for lunch and had homemade Maryland Crab soup for dinner, and we're having chicken satay tonight (that I prepped yesterday!)
    • Watch anything good? We  bought "Tangled" for DD on Saturday - we've watched it 3x already!
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? I'm not sure if this is a vent or not, but its weird and confusing.  My parents 50th anniversary is in September. Originally there were no plans and then about 2 months ago they decided they wanted to go on a family cruise to Alaska.  After about 2 weeks of scrambling to plan it, it got scraped for a variety of reasons.
    • So, my sister and I decided to plan a party instead - we came up w/ a prelim budget and guest list and I also nudged DH to work on some house repairs/renovations that needed to be done, etc. and overall we've been plugging along.  Now, this weekend, my mom basically freaked out and told my sister the idea of a party made her nervous to the point that she can't sleep at night, etc.  I feel bad for her that she apparently has this much social anxiety, but its totally odd too b/c she loved being the center of attention at her retirement party (and at my wedding too) and those were much larger gatherings - including lots of people she didn't even know.  I'm not mad at my mom, but I just find it very curious and sad that she's that nervous about having a party.

    • What are you looking forward to this week?  End of it - this whole working 5 consecutive days is rough!

    • Highs? I had a great visit with my sister. She got to meet Max, play with Ada, and we even managed to escape for a beer.
    • Lows? Her visit was much too short.
    • Eat/make anything good? Last week I made a fennel tart that was amazing.
    • Watch anything good? No
    • Read anything good? I just finished Mr. Churchill's Secretary. It is the first book that really got my attention in along time.
    • FFCs, vents, AWs, etc? We just got home from Max's two month appointment. He grew 2 1/2 inches and 5lbs in six weeks. He is now 24 1/2 inches long, and weighs 14lbs.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Not much. I need to get organized.

  • Highs? Book club and wine

Lows? Our drain backed up again and DH had to rent a snake to fix it. I'm glad he's handy because I didn't feel like paying a plumber $250 to fix it.

Eat/Make anything good? Cheese - Spanish Cheese, sheep's milk cheese and a great moscato white wine (or at least I think that's what it was). I am not very knowledgeable about wine.

    Watch anything good? Nope

Read anything good? I finished reading "A visit from the good squad." by Jennifer Egan

FFC's, etc.? When I picked up DD on Friday, I found out that her nap mat was ripped. I understand that accidents happen, but I was kind of peeved that nobody apologized for it. A simple, " I noticed your nap mat was ripped, I'm sorry that I don't know how it happened." (It wasn't ripped when I dropped it off on Monday, so I know it happened at daycare. When they washed it, I think the velcro got stuck on something and it tipped.) I was doubly annoyed because I had put a lot of hard work, time and energy into sewing it and I had to spend another couple of hours fixing it. Where it ripped was not an easy fix and involved taking several things apart and re-sewing them.

I am looking forward to Friday/Saturday.
