Seriously what is wrong with people! Pay attention! Friday DH and I (no kids in the car) rear ended while at a stand still in morning traffic...then the guy who rear-ended us gets rear-ended.
Then today we (no kids in the car again thank goodness) wait our turn at a 3 was stop sign intersection to take a left and a person in directly opposing traffic runs the stop light and starts to try to merge into the lane we are turned into and thank goodness DH stopped where he did because he saw her coming because if he had continued moving it wouldn't have been the fender that got smashed in but the passenger side door where I was sitting! I really think she was on her cell phone because I looked over and I swear I saw her drop something from near her face. Then while she was talking to DH someone called and she answered and all she said after a min was "I was in an accident" and then she hung up. Like someone asked why they were hung up on the first time.
Honestly, if it is that hard for you to pay attention while operating a vehicle then you shouldn't have a license. Especially when stop signs are not optional!
Re: Pittsburgh drivers
It's reasons like this that make me hate driving on 28 in the mornings. People don't pay attention while they are driving and cause accidents to others or they are in such a hurry they ride your butt so close you can barely see their headlights. Or they beep their horns at you if you are patient and stop at stop signs. Two weeks ago I had a Monday off so I decided to be a good aunt and take my neice to see the butterflies at phipps. While driving through Oakland I stopped for a stop sign, was almost hit by the cell phone texting person behind me, and then she screamed at me to learn to drive. It's called watching where they drive.
I am so sorry you were in two accidents. I hope you and your husband are alright and I'm glad your children were not in the car.
Gah!! I'm sorry this all has happened and I'm glad everyone is safe!
I agree that cell phones are the biggest factor, but the construction right now is not helping either. I was driving into town this morning and only found out, at the last minute, that the lanes on the Vets Bridge ramp into town had switched and so I ended up driving into Oakland to turn around.
Thankfully it was still before 7am, so the roads were moving, but the lack of communication with PennDot is driving me bonkers! A little warning and signs would be nice, people!
My three sons!
Agreed. Nothing irritates me like seeing someone on the phone driving like an ahole. Maybe you aren't concerned about your own safety, but we are -- especially when we have the kids in the car!
People just don't think. There was a lady with me in the hair salon on Sat. who was saying she was in the hospital having tests run the two days prior b/c she had a seizure. They've yet to determine what caused it, but until they do she's on anti-seizure meds. After all this talk about how scared she was, she got into her car and left the salon -- just drove herself home. If you just had a seizure and haven't yet determined the cause, perhaps you should get a lift to your hair appointment!!
Well I only drove my DH as far as the nearest bus stop this morning. I wasn't driving on 376 all the way dowtown from forest hills with the luck we've been having!
I have to drop the car off at the shop to have it looked over, the apointment I made from the first incident. Can't wait to tell them that now I need 2 seperate quotes!
At least everyone involved in hitting us has admited to our face that they were at fault. I wonder if they'll stick to that when their insurance gets involved.
By the way why can't any stick around and be a wittness to what happened. Or at least make sure everyone is ok. I at least stop to make sure they can contact a tow truck if needed! Instead everyone just cusses you out and gives you the finger. I really hate living down here. I want the small town I grew up in back. At least people showed concern and weren't complete a$$holes.
