One day in each Charleston and Savannah

what to do in each city? Savannah we will be there from 10am-3pm (going back towards HH for a wedding that night), and for Charleston will be arriving around noon and spending the night before heading home.  Already having a dinner at the Olde Pink House in Savannah on a different night, and at Husk the one day we are in Charleston. It is just MH and I (no kids!).

  • If you only have that much time in SAV I would do a trolley tour and hit River Street

  • When we went to Savannah my favorite thing was walking from Forsyth Park down to River Street via Bull St. It was gorgeous and a wonderful (long walk) to see all the squares and homes. I liked the SCAD student store as well.. River street was OK. I wasn't that impressed, a bunch of tacky touristy stores and loads of people, but it was nice to walk along the water. The stores in and around the city market were nicer- imo.

Charleston- We bought tickets to a house and garden tour by the historical society. I loved the chance to get into the homes and really look around! Again, lots of walking- along the battery and up and down King and Queen St. If you are so inclined, we took a tour of the old plantation Drayton Hall and it was excellent!
