The wedding we went to this weekend was pretty awesome.

They're both into music/theater/performing and it was so personalized around that.

Probably the coolest example - at the end of the reception there was a last dance, the DJ says goodnight, everyone claps for the couple, same routine as always. And then, a jazz band stood up in one of the balconies of the ballroom and started playing. So, everyone dances for a song and then the band walks down the stairs and starts circling the ballroom. Everyone's like, grab your stuff and follow the band!

They do two loops around the ballroom and they out the doors. There's a police escort waiting outside and the band and all the guests paraded/danced the half mile through Scranton to the hotel bar for an after party. It was total Mardi Gras style - they were passing out beads and all.

And then they paraded right into the hotel bar and played for another hour. It was so cool.

Another of my favorite moments was the church exit. A bunch of their musical friends hijacked the musicians and had them play All You Need Is Love while they sang. The bride and groom made it about halfway down the aisle before they realized what was happening, then they stopped to listen - and the whole church started singing along. It was super sweet.

  • I love when couples choose the nontraditional route. It makes it that much more awesome when its a little more personalized. I wish I was brave enough to have done something like that.

  • That is so neat! What a good idea.

PS - just noticed you are a gold poster! I dont know if that happened a long time ago lol but congrats ;).  On my iPhone I just zoom to the next and I rarely see the extra "info" lol

  • That sounds like a lot of fun!

That sounds like such a great time!! I wonder if the couple is a fan of the movie Love Actually...that's sort of what happened in the movie during the church exit! :)

  • I haven't watched Love Actually in a long time, so I don't remember that part... but knowing them, it wouldn't surprise me!
