Monday Morning

Good morning, I am exhausted. H and I went to the Reds/Cardinals game last night and it was amazing. It felt like a playoff game when we swept the Cards and it all happened on Sunday Night Baseball. Even better. <3

Tonight after work I'm finally going back to the scrapbook store to pick up a bunch of things for the honemoon album I'll hopefully get to start this week. I am beyond excited.

How were your weekends?

(P.S. This is to liven up the board and I can see you lurking...POST)

Re: Monday Morning

  • We watched that game last night! That was a good game. DH was excited they swept they Cardinals.

I still want to share pics of Beaux but haven't figured out how to upload pics on this site. Maybe I will play around with it this morning. I need to cut the grass before it gets too hot and we get more summer storms.

Happy 1 month of marriage to us!

  • Nothing really exciting happened this weekend for me.  We did go to the IL family annual vacation Thursday night to Saturday morning.  Beyond that, we just moved more stuff, and started unpacking things.  Chris's grandpa also died so this week we'll be prepping everything for the funeral this weekend.

  • I had the WORST night of sleep in my life last night, and today is my first day on a new job.

My weekend was good, went to see the Philharmonic play in Central Park on Friday, with fireworks. Saturday I went down to the West Village with two friends and ate A LOT. Sunday was a lazy day, H and I went to brunch and then I sat and finally finished book 3 of Games of Thrones/Songs of Fire & Ice.

  • Megan, I'm sorry to hear about his grandpa! *hugs*

Daria, that sounds awesome. Philharmonic in the park sounds heavenly.

Ash, there's still a tree to click on for PIPs like on TK. Did you know how to do it over there? Must see puppy!

  • Megan, so sorry to hear about Chris's grandpa passing.

I tried that and got confused from there.....it doesn't seem the same as TM on my end...

Hey, you're right. Looks like you have to upload it somewhere else and put the URL in there. Then pick the dimensions of it. That's really weird. *testing*

  • Morning,

Really do not want to be at work. It is the start of a very long week. I have to work Saturday in addition to M-F. I am just going to be really tired for H's birthday get together that I am planning for Saturday night.

Could not sleep last night. Sharing a full size bed with H is not working. We both like to take over the bed. We cannot get a new bed until we move and I have no idea when that will be.

  • Friday night H and I just hung out together and watched a movie and drank a bottle of wine.  Saturday we were super productive and did all those little random things we've put off for the past year since we were busy with wedding planning stuff (scrubbed the kitchen sink, re-potted plants, bought a new grill cover, cleaned and organized a bookshelf, etc) and then went out for drinks with a friend.  Yesterday we just laid around and didn't really do much.  I read a lot in Fifty Shades Freed so that was good.

I'm stalking the mailman and hoping my new SS card comes today so I can get my new license soon!

    Anniversary
  • G2, I can totally relate to that. When I would spend the night with H at his parent's house, we had to sleep on a twin or the couch. I hope you can get a new bed soon. It is really hard to sleep well under those circumstances.

Jaime, sounds like your weekend will be like H & I this weekend. The apartment needs to be under 100% control. My SS card didn't take that long so I hope yours comes soon. Did the office not give you a paper certifying your name change?

  • I went to a baby shower on Saturday then to Art Walk (look at art in some downtown businesses in my town). My husband and I sampled beer and then went get some gelato after walking around downtown.

Sunday we visited with our neighbors.

I went to the DMV last week and got my new driver's license so I plan to go to the SS office today as well as my mortgage company and my bank.

  • The only thing worse than going to sleep with a headache is waking up with said headache.  Worst. Monday. Morning. Ever.

Saturday I went to a bridal shower and then did some shopping with my mother.  Got a Sam's Club Military Membership and some other random shopping/errands.  Then H and I hung out, I made a ridiculously involved dinner.  Took me like 3 hours to make.

Sunday I went to breakfast and the beach with a good friend from college.  Then came home and did laundry and wrote some thank you notes.

I just wrote out an entire list of things I need to do tonight.  Not looking forward to it.

  • This weekend we went to an amusement/water park with my best friend and her husband.  It was a lot of fun even though everyone in the state had the same idea and the lines were super-long.  Her husband is deploying to Afghanistan in a few weeks and I'm really sad :(  They've been together since we were 13 so he's sort of like a brother to me now.

Sunday we went to go look at some open houses to get a start on our house-search.  We also had a realtor over to the house we're living in now (my grandmother's house, we were living there so it wasn't abandoned when she moved to an assisted-living place).  They decided to list with him and now the headache begins for us!  We have to figure out where to put all our boxes of presents, since they can't be sitting around filling up spare rooms like they are now.  We don't want to unpack them since we'll be moving soon enough too, plus there isn't really anywhere to unpack them in this house.  I'm also not sure what to do with our cat when they show the house.  We don't want him there because he isn't an outdoor cat and we don't want him to get out, or to get into the basement which has an open hole in the floor where the sump-pump is.  We might have to send him to DH's family's house for a month or two until the house sells or we get our own place :(  I missed him so much when he was there before the wedding/for our honeymoon!

They did and I know Tania was able to get her new license without a new SS card in hand (we're both MA) but with my luck I'd go to the DMV and wait for hours and they'd tell me they need my new card as proof.  I just have awesome luck like that.  So I'm just waiting...

  • Rikki, it's amazing how things work so differently in each state. I'm surprised you were able to get a new drivers license before going to the SS office.

Spiffy, I hope your headache goes away soon. I didn't know Sams club had special memberships for military. Are they cheaper?

Michelle, couldn't you ask the realtor to make sure the cat doesn't get out? I'd worry about trusting that to someone else as well but I think realtors should be responsible enough to handle it. On the other hand, seeing a cat there might deter some people from buying it. Good luck with selling it, I know that can be a chore.

Jaime, that's probably for the best then! No use waiting in a long line just to be turned away.

Thanks Midge.  I think I was just dehydrated this morning.

And technically no, it isn't cheaper.  They give you a 15 dollar gift card when you sign up and every year that you renew.  And since my mother and I are splitting the $40 membership a year....I'm technically only paying 5 dollars a year.

I'm still getting used to having a military ID (I forget I even have it) I was researching memberships it said if you show them your ID you'll get a $15 gift card I figured I'd try it.  I didn't know I'd get one ever year I renewed.

Well it's at least something! My mom has a Sams membership too. FYI, Home Depot gives 10% off with a military ID. At least mine did all the time and it doesn't hurt to ask!

  • Thanks for the heads up :)  I'm sure we'll be using that in the near future!

  • It's Monday and I'm at work...blah.

I can't wait to go out to dinner tonight with H and a couple of our friends!

We had a good weekend: beach yesterday with my parents and started looking at houses on Saturday which was exciting but now has me super antsy to get a house!

Meg I'm so sorry about your H's grandpa.

  • Shan, did you get married in that tinkerbelle costume? ;) haha Just kidding <3.

Glad you had a good time at the beach and I'm sure you'll have a great time tonight with friends.

  • Listen Jess you're lucky I took away my ticker, changing my photo is more work then I care to exert! ;)   <3

  • Jamie: I did not need my SS card to change my license. I just took in the form and my marriage certificate. The guy only asked if I had gone to the SSA to change it yet.

There are so many discounts available for military IDs. I know hotel rooms do a military discount. Some places do not advertise it, but I would always ask. I know the National Parks sometimes do free days to certain parks with a military ID. They do come in handy.

  • Ugh I hate mondays.  Only 1.5 hrs left at work then H and I are going for a picnic with our new picnic set!  Weekend was busy for us.....it was the in-laws final weekend with us before they jet back to Australia.  Mostly took them out for dinner and lunch to all our fav. spots and took them shopping for some last minute "north america" things before they went home.  Lots of tears at the airport yesterday.....not so fun!  Back to real life now.  Boooooo.

  • Yes I guess it is odd how states vary for the name change process. I went to the SS office today and I had to present my marriage license then driver's license. The DMV I had to present my car insurance card as well as marriage license and current driver's license.

I also went to my bank today. I inquired about my husband getting added onto my savings account but apparently at that bank the couple has to merge checking as well. I know this is the traditional way to do it but my husband and I have decided to keep our checking accounts separate for now to avoid confusion.

Not much left to do for the name change process, I will fax my info over to the mortgage company tomorrow and perhaps call one of my credit card companies too.

  • It's now Monday night- I got pinched at work today lots of time by the dopey kidss. So I'm baking
  • We had a good weekend. We celebrated H's birthday and did tons of yardwork.
  • Spiffy - there's military discounts almost everywhere around here!  We just went to an amusement park and got half price tickets with my best friend's husband's military ID (they were with us, they can get up to 4).

Midge - I really don't trust a realtor to keep the cat from getting out or in the basement.  He also isn't the friendliest to new people, and I'd hate for that to be a problem in selling the house.  We're really good about his litter box so it never smells like cat in here or anything but some people just don't like cats, or are allergic.

I can't go back and see who it was that said they started looking at houses, but isn't it so exciting?!!  I'm so happy to start this process but it really does make you anxious to just get in one!  Our realtor just emailed us back about a couple that we wanted to see (one was in the PERFECT location) and they're already sold.  Good thing we have a huge list to look at still!
