RP: Anyone dyed fabric in front load h/e washer?

Our outdoor cushions are very faded and I want to re-dye them back to their red color but am afraid to do this in a front load washer. I read the instructions but am still afraid. Has anyone tried this with success?

Re: RP: Anyone dyed fabric in front load h/e washer?

  • There are specialty dyes for HE washers, I believe, but, I just do bucket/sink and let the washer handle the rinse part. You should know, though, that most "outdoor" fabric is 100% poly, or at least very high %- and thus, impossible to dye with anything you can use at home (really- don't believe RIT or anything that says it will dye poly).

  • Good points!  Glad I asked.  I know some people say "Just google it" which I did but the Rit.com site didn't tell me that it probably wouldn't work on outdoor cushions!

    THANKS!
