Cleared to close!

I am happy just getting to this point because it has been 3 months of headaches.

Now, they set a closing date for Monday but I'm wondering if I will be inundated with a barrage of calls about more paperwork or something.  What can I expect at this point?

I want to feel relieved but I'm afraid too,if that makes sense. Plus we just found out that we are expecting so even though we are excited, my stress level is already through the roof. smh

Re: Cleared to close!

  • Ah, that's such a happy feeling! If you've been cleared to close, you should be totally fine. There *shouldn't* be any last minute things that come up, unless you changed your situation somehow. Good luck!

  • On our closing date we had to basically resign every bit of paperwork from the title company, which was annoying and repetitive. And we had to pay the remainder of the down payment. It was a pretty easy process overall, but annoying, especially since the closing date was the day before our wedding!

It was nice to move into our house when we came back from the honeymoon though. Kinda like a gift to ourselves. :)

  • I just read the comment about you expecting. Congrats!!! That is so exciting! Just remember that the house buying mess is almost over and there is nothing you can do except to be patient and relax. Then you can put all that focus and attention toward your new little one. :)

  • Thanks!, I told hubby we sure know how to make full use of our first year. lol

I will just be happy when things calm down a bit. I guess I will get the cashiers check for the remaining dp today form my bank so it will be ready to go, the amount is not likely to change for any reason right?

    Anniversary
  • Our amount didn't change, but I have a coworker that had to come up with extra. It really just depends. It might have to do with the fact that she was a second time homebuyer, whereas I was a first-time homebuyer. Maybe something to do with equity. I wouldn't stress over it. What details did they give you about your closing date? Have they talked about when/where you will be meeting to get the money to them and to close?

  • yes I already have the time and date (Monday! *squeal*). Hope there wont be too many extra fees but now I'm excited.

  • If you already have a date and time, then that should be that, but don't get too excited until those keys are in your hands. :) I can't wait to hear how things go! Post as soon as you have those keys! :)

Oh, and what are the details on the house? Location, square footage, number of rooms, etc? Our house is 3 bed, 2 bath, 1100 sq ft, located on a court, so its really private. It's right outside of Sacramento, Ca. :)

    So excited for you! :)

  • Located on a court? how cool is that.

Our home is also 3 bedrooms but we dont have 2 full baths one only has a shower intead of a full tub.Its 1530 sq feet and it sits on a corner so we dont have much backyard space but alot of fron and side yard space. But its been gut renovated on the inside and has a finished basement and attached garage that we will hopefully be remodeling in the future so that we can add more space to the home. The garage is the only thing that wasnt renovated so it might be an expensive project.

  • That sounds really nice! You have a lot of square footage, which makes all the difference. We moved from a 700 sq ft apartment to 1100, so it's been really nice. :)

You're right, the garage project could be expensive, depending on what needs to be renovated, but it can be done inexpensively if you DIY and really research different options on renovation. Luckily, since it's not a living space, it won't be an immediate need. Being a homeowner is so fun. It's so nice being able to paint (even though it's a pain), and decorate any way you want. :)

The best part for us is that it only cost us about $300 more a month to have a house than it did to rent an apartment, and now we live closer to my DH's work, which is good since he drives a truck. :)

That's what I can't wait for, I'm so excited to be able to paint! That and I can't wait to be able to have a pet! I wish we were saving more money on the mortgage but I guess I just have to take what I can get.lol

  • We would have bought a house even if it cost us more, because it's just so worth it if you can afford it. :)

And yes, being able to have pets is awesome! We were able to have a max of two pets at our apartment, so we had two dogs, a 3.5 year old Jack Russell mix (Milo) and a 2.5 year old Chiweenie (Riley). As soon as we moved into the new place we got a new puppy. :) She is a 3.5 month old German Sheperd (Athena). :) It's so nice having more freedom.

What kind of pet are you looking into?
