We are officially homeowners! I am so excited!!
Closing went okay, went by myself because hubby had to work (house is only in my name anyway because of credit). My lawyers actually messed up BIGTIME but my mortgage broker , who has been like my ace through out this whole process, got everything cleared up AND managed to get me a 4K credit back which is something else my lawyers had overlooked.
The first thing I did was go to Home Depot to get paint, new locks, cleaning supplies, energy saver lightbulbs for the recessed lights and other little odds and ends and by the time I was done it was over 600 bucks! I was like "Crap"!, but I remember the ladies on here saying how fast the little things add up so I guess this is only the beginning.lol
By the time hubby came home I was almost finished painting my daughters room so he finished that up and now we just have to paint my son's room. We will paint the nusery and get that ready after I am through my first trimester. There are other things we want to customize but I guess we can take our time with those. I'm just happy to finally have a home.
Re: CLOSED!!
Awesome! Sounds like you got a lot done on the very first day!
Just found out today that we will be closing July 30th, so I guess my H & I have to start packing....we were putting it off until we had the actual closing date, so now the real fun begins. Whoot!
OMG!! YAY!!!
I knew it would all go smoothly! So happy for you!
I did the same thing when we got our house. We bought $400 worth of paint and painted the bathroom, living room, kitchen and hallways. Then we had to buy a refrigerator, which was another $500. Not to mention all the random items. Thank goodness we had been saving, and we had money from our wedding!
Enjoy your new home. It really is nice to have a place of your own.
It is!! I would love to get a new french door fridge but we will have to deal with the one they gave us for a few more months. Its stainless steel but its just a regular fridge so I was like "meh".
The one thing I am really happy about though is that they put up my fencing, because when I first saw the home it had like basic chain fencing and because its a corner property I didnt want that. So I got an estimate for white privacy fencing and was told 11K!! yeah..no. Sooo in the contract rider I asked for white privacy fencing thinking maybe I could get them to do something close to that. Well surprise surprise they signed off on it, that they would do the whole thing. Fast forward to near closing...and them realizing how much it would cost and they tried every which way to back out of that deal but they had already signed the contract *cheesy grin* so they had to do it. So after much back and forth my fence was finally put up!
That's awesome! I love when things like that happen.
We just got a basic fridge. We couldn't really, and didn't want to, afford an expensive fridge, so we just got the basic white fridge, since the other appliances were white. I would've prefered to have stainless or black, but it wouldn't have matched. It still looks good though because we have tan granite countertops, tile backslash and cabinets. So it's a very "light" kitchen.
