I'm on the 20 day countdown to my due date....18 to the planned induction. Anyway, did you do a gift for the older child from the baby? If so, what was it? I'm struggling to come up with something. I know DD will be giving the baby her big bear and her snuggle bear and I have matching outfits for them.
On another random note, for DD, I was set up with the nursery, PNP, swing, bouncer, etc by 30-34 weeks so our dog could get used to them and packed my bag/baby bag at the same time. Now, I have barely touched the nursery and DH's plan is to get the swing and bouncy down when we are in the hospital (he's totally going home at night instead of staying like he did for DD bc he couldn't sleep there and was miserable/cranky....not something I need with a newborn). Packed?? Heck no, I haven't even unpacked clothes for 2.0 yet. Just hoping 2.0 doesn't arrive before 39 weeks....I have too much to do and DH gets back from Vegas that day.

Hmmm - I'm trying to remember if Gavin received anything from Conall. I don't think so, but I know my Mom took him to the store to pick something out for Conall and then got him something as well. And when my Dad drove up a couple of weeks later, he brought up an awesome new truck for Gavin. So, the kid got a lot. LOL
I can't speak about nursery setup, etc., since we only have a 3-BR house and had family coming in, so we didn't switch rooms around until Conall was around 3 months old. Packing - nope. Didn't do that either. I found out 4 days before I had #2 that I was having a planned c-section a week before my due date, so I just packed the night before.
Poor #2 gets so shafted. LOL
My three sons!
I don't think we got Caileigh anything (she was too excited about being a big sister) but I have no doubts that my MIL brought plenty of gifts to the hospital for her
.
Yea the "stress" is much less when the second one comes around b/c you remember that all they need in the beginning is diapers, wipes, you or a bottle & a few blankets and you can make it through until whatever is put up or put away.
I can't believe you are so close! Good luck!
p.s. the only time DH ever stayed at the hospital was the first night when Caileigh was born and that was only b/c I was in Recovery/ICU all night. From then on he went home for all of the kids. It just wasn't worth it b/c (1) he would snore and I wouldn't sleep & (2) the nurses will help with whatever you need. Plus my kids were NICU for 36 hrs so no sense in sleeping at the hospital for just me! Then when they did come to the room I sent them to the nursery at night & the nurses brough them when they needed to eat
How time flies! Caileigh (9), Keira (6) & Eamon (3)
No. Todd didn?t give a present to Heather. Nana and Bapa were visiting and taking care of Heather, so she got plenty of treats while they were there. When Daddy and Bapa brought Heather to the hospital for the first time, they stopped in the gift shop and got him a ?birthday? present. It was a small soft doggy.
Granted, he was a month early?but when Todd was born his nursery furniture hadn?t been delivered yet and we had borrowed an arms reach cosleeper from a friend but hadn?t set it up yet. We also hadn?t gotten out the bouncy seat or pack?n?play yet.
The only thing I managed to do before Todd was born was make space in his room for his furniture (thanks to the help of some friends), clean the newborn clothes, wash the boppy and wash the cover of the infant car seat. That said, with our level of experience and help from my parents, it didn?t take us long to have everything in order.
Oh, and since my water broke a month before my due date, we definitely didn?t have a hospital bag packed. Thank goodness we had managed to make arrangements for friends to watch Heather!
Nolan bought Brinley an Olivia t-shirt. It said, "Mom's big helper". And some letter puzzles. She also got some Mrs. Potato Head accessories that I didn't realize didn't actually include the Mrs. Potato head. So after they left the hospital DH and DD went to go buy Mrs. Potato Head.
I mostly bought things I thought would keep her busy in the hospital while they were visiting.
DH didn't stay in the hospital the second time around either. He had his hands full with DD who took leaving me at the hospital for a night very hard. Luckily I had an early discharge. :-)
Garrett "bought" Mason a Thomas the Train the set. Mason was 22 months old when Garrett was born, so I don't know that he really got it - but I did want to do all that I could to make the transition easier on him since he didn't completely understand that he had to 'share' me.
We did have our nursery together, but only because we moved Mason into another room, so it was already set up. (It had also recently been gutted due to a bad roof leak, and we really didn't have a choice to finish it.)
I was a scheduled c-section, so I didn't pack until the night before. With Garrett, I was a lot more nervous for the c-section, but as for the overall experience of #2, I was way more relaxed and laid back.

LOL! DD loved that too. "Remember when I ate in a bed with you?!?!"
