AW: I rejoined WW

I just have to share.  I'm really proud of myself for doing this (and I haven't been proud of much in the eating/exercise dept lately).  I am about ten pounds over my normal weight, and I want to get back there asap.

Are y'all still doing the fitness check-in at all?  If not, I'll be happy to do check-ins with folks, or join your group.  I can use all the accountability I can get.

Re: AW: I rejoined WW

  • Good for you! I still have ten pounds of baby weight to lose before I'll be comfortably in my old jeans, and about 17 pounds to get to my super hotness weight. :)

I would love to be part of any fitness check-ins---God knows I need something to be accountable to. Right now I have myself convinced that calories don't count if nobody sees me eat them.

  • That's awesome!  Yes, we should do check ins.  I need them!!!

  • Yay! As I said, I am rejoining WW tomorrow.  I think I have gained ~10 pounds since getting maried in January. So instead of needing to lose 40 more pounds, now I have to lose about 50 pounds.  Boo.  But I just have to remind myself that I can do it since I lost 40 pounds in 2007.  I'll just focus on the fact that I have kept most of it off.

  • Good for you! I'm up for check-ins. I need to lose 10-15 pounds, and would like to lose 8-10 in the next three weeks before I come home for Christmas.

  • I will do the check-in with you. I need to lose about 10 lbs also, so I started jogging again and lifting light weights. Needless to say, I can barely move. Ladies keep the Workout and Weight loss AW's coming!!! I need them.

  • Congrats on taking the first step, soprano. And very smart to do it before the holidays instead of waiting until NYE resolution time. You'll have a jump on everybody else!

I'd love to participate in the healthy eatin' check-ins. I have been doing well with working out but need to get back on track food-wise. I have 10 lb that I want to lose.

  • I'll do the check ins too.

I did WW last year online and lost 34 lbs. I did good maintaining until the wedding but since May I have gained 15 lbs back. I really want to get it off. I just don't know if I have the discipline anymore.  Sad

  • The critical thing with WW, or any plan, is actually making fundamental changes.  If you only make changes for the duration of your "diet", you'll quickly slide back into the bad habits that led you to weight gain in the first place.  I know, because I've done it Smile For me, when I did the WW Flex plan, I approached it like a diet.  When I did Core, I truly did change the bulk of my diet and my behaviors.  Instead of Cheerios each morning, I moved to oatmeal with flaxmeal on top.  Instead of going out for lunches, I started cooking on the weekends and having frozen leftovers each day.  Each Monday, I'd go out at lunch and buy fruits and veggies for the week.  It was really easy, once I got into the habit.  And every Saturday was ice cream day Smile  All week, when I wanted some random treat (donut in the lunch room or whatevs), I'd think, "do i want this, or do I want a scoop of handmade coffee oreo?"  It helped me keep my focus.

I had this down to a science when I lived in Boston.  I went to the gym every weekday morning at 6am, and I was able to maintain my weight loss for a couple years that way.  When we moved to DC, I was still able to maintain for a while, but losing my awesome gym -- and having a back injury, it's been hard the last two years.  And since the surgery and no exercise, forget it.

So, yay for check-ins!  I know I won't be perfect through the holidays, but I'll be in much better shape than if I waited till January!

  • Count me in on the check ins!  I need to lose 50 or 60 pounds.  I can't foresee myself making a ton of progress between now and Christmas, but I can at least start making a better effort to cook healthy when I am home and at least maintain or lose a little between now and New Years.  And a check in will help me stay on track a little better.

Yeah, I debated whether I should rejoin WW now or after the New Year.  I decided to go for it now because I need to get my act together before I'm faced with all the holiday stuff, especially if my behaviors at Thanksgiving are any indicative of the damage I'd do at Christmas-time.

I figure if I could lose weight the week that I had a deep-fried Oreo, I can lose weight (or at least maintain) over Christmas.  When I did WW before, it was very much a lifestyle change.  I've just been slowly slipping back into my pre-WW lifestyle.

  • I'll join in the check-ins. I'm trying to lose about 10 pounds, and I need some accountability. I think I'm going to try Sparkpeople and see how that works.
AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • There's an E08 sparkpeople group, for anyone who's interested. I haven't been active there in awhile, but if you give me your username I can invite you to the group.

  • Hey Brookles, could you invite me?  My SP username is mcsparkerson.

  • That I'm seeing this today is my version of karma/universe/sign-from-above type thing.

I have been going back and forth about rejoining (My eating has been terrible lately!!) and just this morning was looking up meetings.

I found one in my neighborhood for later this evening and am going to force myself to go and get back on track.

I am also channeling Yoda this time: Do or do not. There is no try.

I invited you... and Meredith too!

  • So wait -- are you guys gonna chat it up on SparkPeople?  Or can we check in here on A06, for those of us who are WW-ers?

Well, the sparkpeople forums never really took off. I say we check in here.

  • Coolio!

So, we need some kind of name.  I know there was some barbell thing, but i don't remember how to type it.

What about (#) -- the pound sign b/c we're dropping pounds?

Not the most clever, but it's all I got.

I think our old one was this: 0-0, which is a barbell but also kind of looks like eyeglasses. Either one works for me.

  • good for you! I have 5ish more that I would like to lose (15ish down) but I am pretty happy with where I am now... now I need to get the tone back (aka get back inot hte gym routine). I cant complain though - DH worked this weekend and I went out with my sisters, and had 2 different guys 5 yrs younger than me hit on me... yeah they were drunk and yes I was wearing my rings (and flashed them) but still, I am taking the ego booster! ;)

My big goal is not to gain through Christmas. Last year I was this weight or less even and the holidays totally derailed me... so if I can basically maintain through this month this year I will be thrilled. That means (for me) making fewer cookies... and hiding the ones I make from myself!!

  • PGH, nice work!  I remember you saying you needed to drop a few pounds, and you've done great!  And if I recall, that's while goign through a stressful time in your marriage -- well done!

The cookies kill me.  I honestly cannot stop eating them, if I have them at my house.  I make killer chocolate chip cookies, sometimes with fleur de sel, and then I freeze them.  It's just impossible to stay away, so I have to forgo them altogether.

  • thanks :)

yeah I cant resist them either, and once I have one Ill eat them all. Sad.

I sometimes get annoyed that I cant just eat chips and cookies and ice cream to my hearts content without paying for it... it feels unfair somehow! lol! And I do love healthy stuff too but sometimes a girl just wants junk... ;)
