White Plains Hosp vs Hudson Valley

My current OBGYN is at white plains but I am not feeling the chance of having a semi-private room. I want my DH to be able to stay over night and I know this is a big thing for  him too.  Anyone deliver there are actually get a shared room? I am wondering if this is something the happens very rarely or is it more common.

I have been thinking about moving up to hudson valley since I have heard good things about them. I would have to switch doctors which I am not that happy about cause I love my doctor.

I guess my question is any advice on either place?

 TIA

Re: White Plains Hosp vs Hudson Valley

  • I delivered my first DD at White Plains Hospital in July 2010 and had a wonderful experience. All the nurses and staff were friendly and attentive. I had a private room and my DH stayed every night. They even provided meals for him. I know the amount of private rooms made me nervous too when I went for the hospital tour. I think they have 2 other suites that you can pay for. If we didn't get a private room we were just going to pay. I am due with DD #2 on 8/26 and this time I am delivering at Hudson Valley Hospital because I moved to northern Westchester. I don't have any advice at this hospital but hope someone answers because I am interested in their experience. Congrats and good luck.
  • I delivered at White Plains Hospital last year and had a great experience, too. I guess I was lucky because I got a private room. My husband and mom stay overnight (they took turns). Everyone, staff, nurses, were extremely friendly and very supportive during my labor. I have just good things to say about them. Good luck!
  • I delivered this time last year at White Plains hospital and had a great experience.  The nurses were great and I had a private room.  During the tour they told us they try their best to not double up in the rooms as long as it can be avoided.
